That PCSO was so lucky it was Northern Audits and not some of the other auditors who would have torn him a new one. Totally out of his depth and it showed.

The people who dialled 999 for this really should be the ones warned by the police of their conduct and that such use of emergency services is the only illegal part of the whole encounter.

None of them seem willing to learn more than their basis training, they need to take responsibility for their development and learning and study the laws they are paid to police.

I wish burglaries/muggings etc would receive such response from the police, and give the public more confidence in reporting crimes. Sending out so many people to deal with someone taking photographs- Appalling behaviour.

RIPA stands for Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act. It was introduced to provide guidance for the Police, Government Agencies, Local Authorities etc who undertake surveillance of individuals / suspects /criminals. In general it requires those who are undertaking surveillance to justify why they doing so and requires authorisation by a senior officer in the respective organisations. It definitely does not apply to individual members of the public. The PCSO was talking bollocks.

That was a brilliant interaction. Shows how people spout nothing, appertaining to law. Just feelings. One of the best I've seen, and I've seen loads of this type of thing.

So the moral of this story is don't ever assume that just because someone is wearing a police uniform, that they know the law, will give you accurate information or will act within the law. These auditors do a great job not only exposing the woeful incompetence of some police staff but also by demonstrating knowledge truly is power.

The PCSO has basically threatened you. If you had of complied and deleted he would have deprived you of something ie footage, without legal reason solely because he threatened you with deprivation of liberty, violence etc. He needs a bollocking from his boss, a nice letter written by him of apology and a few quid in compo.

Just after 8 mins, yellow bib man blatantly lied to the 999 caller. No drone licence etc. This is wrong. The thing wasn't even up in the air. This was caused by the bloke in the white shirt.

That pcso was embarrassing with his made up laws and “regulations” and his threat of being fined hundreds of thousands of pounds was just a joke. The worrying thing is he seemed to be actually believing what he was saying and the female probably believed him aswell 🙄

Absolutely unbelievable escalation of a non-crime. But first and foremost superb auditing, love the good humour and how you know your onions and never lose your cool.

I am certain that every shop owner and every homeowner who has ever been robbed is comfortable with the police dispatching nine people to look at your drone instead of catching the criminals who broke into their homes and businesses.

This is hilarious and frightening at the same time.

The PCSO started off so confidently showing off in front of the young lady. The more you questioned him the more he started to splutter, he realised he was bullshitting but couldn't work out how to back track.

This is scary, scary that a person considered and viewed as a person with authority can be so far wrong, yet claim without doubt that you will be arrested and charged. I believe this is beyond gross misconduct, male PCSO was stating completely false information and making no effort to try and remain impartial and investigate. This is a disgrace. Please complain via every available avenue. He needs to go, he's in the wrong line of work. I expect better from the british police! - side note, female PCSO... you should have stopped this as you witnessed it all, please do better in future.

My dad liked a phrase, "a wise man knows when he does not know". The police officer who turned up was such a man. He knew a bit on drone laws but recognised through listening / investigating that you knew more. Good work by him. The PCSO though was brave considering its clearly his first day. 🤔 his arrogance was based on perceived authority not actual authority. He needs to reconsider the position he is in, if he is unwilling to carry out actual study before venturing outside. But maybe on his second day he can do better?

19:00 the correct answer is “I’m filming because I can”. Northern Audits is not being obstructive, he’s just under no obligation to turn the camera off, show the footage or delete it.

I am a military person here in UK. I am required to attend annual security "training" as we live and work on a military site, and are potentially targets for all sorts of reasons. I am also a very keen drone operator in my personal time. I am fully legal, with regards to operator ID and competency certification, as required by CAA, I'm also insured for public liability and accidenta damage that may potentially occur during my drone activities. I'm fully aware of the laws and regulations surrounding my personal hobby. It upsets me to see the so called "training" that our military establishments give to my colleagues, with regards to drones. This is because they talk total nonsense, they teach opinion as if it is fact. They do not even touch on the actual law during training. Military sites are indeed protected airspace, that's all that needs to be said regarding my work site... but they continue on to spread misinformation, often fearmongering as well. Unfortunately, I fear that the misinformation this particular PCSO was spouting, was indeed "taught" to him by some institution during "training" and that's the main problem here... public awareness and perception is bad because too many people spread wrong information. I also fear that the "training" the security guards have received is also full of incorrect information regarding drones, privacy laws and so on, so can't really blame those people either, they have been failed by their employer.

You just could not make it up how stupid the pretend officer is. His force should remove him. He has either blatantly lied, or is so inept that he shouldn't be in the force. Which one is anyone's guess

That cop's understanding of photography law is one of the reasons i started watching these kinds of videos. When you're engaged in public photography and are approached by police or security often they just want to you to go away. If you don't know the law and your rights they can say whatever they like to make it seem like you're doing something wrong, to get you to stop and go elsewhere.
