FYI for interacting with the phone, I just use a ELECOM Handheld Bluetooth Thumb Trackball Mouse that I keep in my pocket. You can also leave the zippers undone - light will leak, but if your goal is phone interaction and not immersion, this is still far better visibility than having the phone on the controller.

Hi, Nice review. Got a tip for you. Neck Lanyard for the controller! I use it with my Air 2S, not only super for my drone mask, but an all around third hand for the controller. Really one of those 'Ah' experiences. Once you use one you'll never go flying without it. Back to the mask, with the lanyard, opening the mask and using a menu is no big deal. You've got two hands, with mask still on unzip the mask, one hand holds it open a bit, the other goes in and fingers to the menu. Oh and it makes hand launch much simpler. Try it, you'll never leave home without it. 😉 Thanks for sharing.

Tripltek 8 Pro with its 1200 nits of screen brightness stopped my problem with the sun making it impossible for me to see the screen. 8" Pro not cheap but works great. Your review did a fine job of showing me why I would not want this setup you were demonstrating simply because I would be unable to get to the record button or the other control functions on the screen. I prefer to shoot short clips which makes them a lot easier to work with in the video editor. Thank you for the time you put into creating this video👍

Thank you for the comparison. Just looked into it and at $795 the Tripltek 8 Pro is pretty expensive but comparing the 1200 nits to the 500 nits on the iPad mini, it's probably perfect for this very use case. As I mentioned in the video, the Drone Mask is probably not an every day "solution" it's a very cool experience to revisit every now and then, especially when you're flying in a "familiar" spot and just want to experience differently. (At some point taking the same footage over and over again, becomes a little boring)

You can always get a cheap, bluetooth mouse, pair it up with the device you are using. The beauty of the mask is, you can ditch the T8 Pro, and use any phone that can run the DJI app. Use the mouse to click around the app interface, without removing the mask! Also, depending on what drone you are flying, if the remote control has customizable buttons, you can assign your most used functions to those buttons and then you would not need the bluetooth mouse as much. If you are using a DJI drone, your record button is on the controller, no need to tap on T8 Pro screen.

Hi Sam, yes the cool thing about the Drone Mask it's completely agnostic of App and Drone. It just gives you a more immersive experience no matter what you are using.

My question was if it would support a split view which at this point I received an answer from the makers of the mask and they said no, and that is something that they may consider in the future.

Maybe a silly question but can this be used ALONG WITH another device for flying? Kinda hard to explain what I mean but suppose I want to fly my drone normally (I use a tablet) but I also want a friend to get a fpv perspective, can he use these at the same time that I'm flying normally? In other words using some kind of cable splitter for the two devices? (dunno if "splitting" is even possible with these data cables)

Very good question but I don’t think that’s possible with a cable splitter. Since the device is partly controlling the drone, having multiple devices connected would be confusing I could imagine. However, if you did a screen-mirror from your iPhone to a supporting display that might be an option.

Yes, it's a bit more on the pricy side, but a set of good ND filters can set you back $100 - $150 US. So I guess it depends on how much this product is "for you" :)

You can always buy Orca goggles and the such, at hundreds of dollars more, and, they might not be always compatible with the actual drone you're flying. With this solution, you are skipping the compatibility gap since most drones, need a suitable smartphone to control the app. What you are getting with this is a magnifying glass, which, by the way, you can adjust to suit your eyesight.

I bought a gaming/remote vr controller which solves the problem of having to open the goggles. Just put it in mouse mode and use the joy stick to navigate the menu with out having to take the goggles off

I think we all agree that it’s a bit too pricey for what it is, but the experience is very cool. I have not tried cheaper ones, can you recommend any?

Too heavy. Yes, this a great new experience for visual, but it is very heavy to wear this, like about during 20 minutes of flying.

You definitely have a point. I can see a $20 version from China but also not working as well as this one. $169 is definitely steep - but I think it's primarily produces in Norway so I can assume that's where the price tag comes from. I agree for $49.99 USD they would see their sales skyrocket as I am sure more people will likely pick it up :)

This is way too much money for what you get. Major ripoff as they are taking advantage of the fact that no one else is competing with them. I will wait for the competition to show up.
