Ironically enough, this is how my own snowy hardships in rimworld have ended up becoming as well. All the male prisoners I get keep trying to escape and dying, while the female prisoners keep joining.

The best way to deal with unwanted bonded animals is to take them out in a caravan and then banish/abandon them while in the caravan. This offers the least amount of debuffs compared to selling/death which last for way too long.

Thats useful to know! Thanks. I found the best way to deal with bonded animals is downloading the pawn rules mod (or something similar) and making a rule to prevent people from bonding with combat animals (or any animals for that matter). Just because Matt tended squirrel 1 for some medical experience doesnt mean I want him to bond with it, Randy, come on

I noticed you were able to put a hare into the vicinity of the mech cluster without setting it off. Doesn't that mean in theory you could load a caravan with explosive shells, cancel the caravan and then send the pack animal to the cluster, drop shells from the pack animal inside the cluster and then later on shoot the shell from a safe distance using one of your pawns?

I didn't think of the wind turbines. Probably the only way to make pure wind viable (without needing batteries and the *zzzt* events they come with). Cleaning the blood with rain is already a huge timesaver.

I started a sea ice playthrough a couple days ago because of this series and it's been insane. In the first 4 hours I had a plasteel meteorite that gave me 400 plasteel, I had a Thrumbo literally have a heart attack and die right outside my base, and I had 2 polar bears randomly join the colony. Super fun and I've learned so much about the game.

Tips: Its a good idea to build a light in the room you store medicine if you have self tending colonists like orange. Darkness is a really bad malus for medical treatments and colonists are too dumb to walk to a light-source before stitching themselves up. Or make a shelf in the research room to keep meds. Also a shelf for the mortar shells will keep them from degrading outside so they can be kept near the mortar and speed up the use of it. I love this series and i'm really enjoying the little cutaways and the general style you are using for the series

Tip for EMP granades in the killbox, if unwanted just ignore what's below and skip. Try adding a small room on a side of the kill box. Just in range of the granades and throw EMP from the relative safty of doorway. just make it on the opposite side than the research room in case they target the grenadier and start shooting his way.

Love the videos, your narration is awesome. If I may suggest something that might be useful? Designate a safe zone area for your animals so they can hide there without walking in the line of fire of both your enemies and yourself. Though muffalos and yaks can be spongy there is no need to put them more at risk. Thanks again for your video.

Ahh, mortars... I'm on my second game of Rimworld now, having upped the difficulty to Randy Strive to Survive. I've gone from never using mortars to relying quite heavily on them. You can counter-siege siegers, aggro dormant hive ship defenders from a safe distance, and siege down enemy outposts. Very useful. Pity about their inability to aim.
