My mom says this song describes most of the Christmases she had when she was in her 20s. Her brother would bring home a new girl for the holidays, her dad would lock himself in the bedroom with their dog that hated everyone except the five immediate family members, my grandmother still pushes everyone's buttons to this day, everyone would always end up in the kitchen... Irish families man. Gotta love em.

My mom's side of my family is Scotch/Irish. While it's nothing to that level of crazy, there's still plenty of drama to keep everyone on their toes. We all get along well.

Grew up with Irish music from my mum. Showed her this song when I was listening to this band. It became her favorite Christmas song and shed always ask me to play it during the year even when It wasn't Christmas. It's weird having a Christmas without her round. But I still come back here to listen to this and have a drink

I post this every year during the holidays on Facebook and it's a huge hit!!!! and it reminds me of the good Ol times we had !!! a huge Irish Catholic family,,, the Kennedy's portraits on the wall, even the head "Father " from our parish dropping by!!! 7 brothers and just Mom and me,, & the Grandparents, of course! lots of running around, wrapping paper everywhere with our own little brand of madness!! Hell yes, as I was born Irish American. I'm now a Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly fan because of songs like this. I listen to this song every year for Christmas. Both sides of my family ancestry is both Irish and German, but the Irish is the biggest because there are too many redheads in the house! Mom's a redhead, I'm a redhead, my dad's father, my Poppi, used to be a redhead! Ahrens is a German name, but my mom's maiden name Jones and my grandmother's maiden name Ensor, both Irish. Dad used to make the best shepherd's pie with steamed red potatoes every year, we're a big Irish family. Not only that, my dad's family, my aunts, uncles, and all my cousins are PSYCHOS! Makes me laugh!
