Baylen bravely took a risk and posted TikTok videos of her daily struggles with Tourette syndrome. Her videos quickly went viral, and she now has over 3 million followers. Baylen says she struggles daily with her tics and OCD, and her parents are trying to help her get better. Baylen says social media helped her gain the confidence to go out in public again, while doctors told her to stay home. Singer and influencer Lele Pons says she also suffers from OCD, Tourette syndrome, and depression but has had a different experience on social media when sharing her story with the public. So what do these two women have in common? Dr. Phil discusses their daily battles with their mental health and how social media has affected it. (20106)

People always think my Tourette’s is fake or for “attention”. I still don’t understand why anyone would fake for that kind of attention. Thank you for taking on this issue.

At 10 years old the doctors diagnosed me with ADHD, OCD, and tic disorder, however they think that the tics may have been from my OCD so they removed the diagnosis of tic disorder. But yeah tics, compulsions, etc are debilitating. I feel bad for anyone suffering from Tourette’s or other disorders.

I have extreme Tourette, i think people think it is fun to have and to fake it in video's for vieuws, well its not. It hurts and feeling guilty for being you is no fun either. Extreem thoughts feelings and impulses is painfull and you need to have strong people arround to. I feel guilty for putting Tourette on the map in my country, because it made IT wors. I think school is where we need to change things in order to help kids understand IT and parents. I struggle with people more then my own Tourette, i dont know Any better bin born with this pain.

As someone who is both diagnosed with Tourette's and has never downloaded that app before, that's called attention seeking, not "developing" or "catching Tourette's." I'm tired of people on that platform making us all look like fools because some 14 year old girls want to be "different" and "quirky." I'm around people all the time and no one ever "catches my disease." How come it only happens when kids watch TikTok? Simple answer. They have a problem with needing attention, not a problem with ticcing.
@BT.TexasDFW
@BT.TexasDFW Жыл бұрын
@@twitchymango4881 I whole heatedly agree with you. I'm sick of people on TikTok too who ARE attention seeking. But they also, I believe, develop these issues by tricking themselves into actually believing it's real. It's sickening. Kids will imitate the things they are constantly viewing and absorbing.
