I can say that Jesse Beahler is awesome at swiveling. He also does the same foot technique as Dirk Verbeuren. His right foot is mostly ankles. I heard Dirk is getting better at swiveling on his right foot by more practice. Jesse Beahler does both swivel at fast tempo. The edge swivel reminds me of Pavulon from Antigama. He swivels like that right now on his Instagram post.

Hey Marthyn, Greetings to Vienna! When do you finally release a 2B Workout Stick Variation? The normal 5A variant is becoming too light over the time ... ^^ No jokes aside, is there any recommendations how to practice with the Workout Sticks in the most effective way, to increase the tempo and duration of the single stroke roll for example. Cheers

Love this explanation. Can you react to Orbit Culture? Drummer Chris is a really good groove drummer. Reminds me of Mario of Gojira. He did a drum playthrough for 'At The Front' and 'Nensha'

Hey buddy, I do have a video idea if you haven’t done it yet. How to get faster with paradiddles. After starting playing drums back in March of this year, I’ve gotten ok at the paradiddle pattern but was looking for insight, tips, tricks into really getting that fast speed with them. Obviously practice, technique, and even patience plays a roll. I’d love to hear your input on it. Thanks.

You started to use those new big drumsticks as of late. What makes them better in your opinion than the promark 747 super Rock that you used before or the Vic Firth 5B extreme?

Q&A: what do you think about feet technique, when drummer puts his feet on the pedal and trying to do some kind of nervous twitching with extremely tense feet? I tried to play like this and that "technique" allows to play fast single feet blast, but it's hard to combine left and right foot, and i have problems with control, so classic ankle motion is my choice. I saw this technique in Ramon Ochoa video long time ago, but he mistakenly called it flat foot technique. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nciYdMih07K4Y40.html

So is it easyer to go with right foot swiveling to the left side and the left going to the right or both swiveling in the same direction

I dont think the order in which u use to swivel is the most important, once u r comfortable enough with the motiong ur body will automatically choose the order he likes, i focused on order alot at first too but now m able to swivel at +200 bpm nd i dont even know what order my feet are following

Seems like the swivel technique might break your ankles if you play it too long, lol. The ankle technique seems more relaxed in my amateur opinion, but its always great to watch Marthyn’s professional breakdown of other top notch drummers.

Here’s a question. Anyone can throw out Fucking any advice at all. Every video on double bass is always like “beginner tips” or “different techniques” but here’s a problem I haven’t really seen anyone talk about at all. What about a drummer like me who’s been playing for 25+ years but still Can’t lock in double bass. I’m not a bad drummer. I’m not amazing but I know my way astound a kit at this point and I’ve got some speed when I crank up the tempo. My double bass is always stuttering though. It’s most feels like I’m capable of playing fast double bass but I’m just not sitting right , or my pedals aren’t positioned right or the spring tension isn’t right . Anyone else been playing double bass for over 10 years but never quite got it but then figured out something they were doing wrong and then suddenly it all clicked? I genuinely feel like I’m just missing something. Any insight? Anyone? Thanks !

Dude, I'm probably way worse than you. But I might have an insight here. Let me tell you my story: I started playing double bass and since I had never played before, I focused on my left foot, since it was very slow. I got good with my left foot and now when I try to play, the right foot is always my bottleneck. I realized that actually my left foot technique is way better, because I started practicing it when I already knew much more about drumming. It's been a 2+ years of trying to "deconstruct" how I play with my right foot and re learn. And it's getting close to my left foot only now (left foot was able to learn in 6 months). What I'm trying to say here is: learning from scratch might be easier than actually re learning something that you do wrong. When you do something wrong, you compensate by using the wrong muscles, wrong position, wrong technique. And figuring out what is wrong is veeeery hard, because it already feels natural. The effort of doing something that is non natural to re learn is a real pain. My advice: get some lessons from a real pro, to actually point your mistakes. After a couple of lessons and that you have figured out what you are doing wrong, you can continue on your own. But it will take time
