A lot of people make fun of KISS now a days, but just imagine seeing this in person in the mid 70's. It's was a completely mind blowing show.

What I love about these old live videos is that they disprove Paul’s and Gene’s contention that Peter couldn’t play. Peter was excellent. Sure, his demons overcame him, but you can’t deny the original foursome created genuine magic. Glad you’re discovering them!

You didn't see KISS, you experienced the show. They were my first concert Dec 2 1976 at the Mid South Collesium in Memphis.

Black diamond, one of my favorite KISS songs of all time. Especially the live performances “100,000 years” is a great one too. But if u haven’t yet. Please react to KISS unplugged performance of “I still love you”. It will blow ur mind.

This is what all us kids back in the early to mid 70's fell in love with. My bedroom was lined with KISS posters and I had their music blasting in my room driving my family crazy all the time.

And suddenly, hundereds of thousands of Kiss fans were born, after seeing this performance! Check out them performing "Firehouse ", on The Mike Douglas Show, from around this time period. It's TV, it's raw, and it's Live! Pretty cool..

Strange Ways is probably my favorite Peter song.

My intro to rock, "Black Diamond" - KISS, "Whole Lotta Love" - Zeppelin and "Black Sabbath" - Sabbath. At age 9. The day that blew my mind. 56 years ago. Been a headbanger since. KISS, ZEP and Sabbath! Can't get any better introduction than metal than that.

When you hear the harmonies, yeah they can and did. Peter had a real gravelly sound. Loved his voice. Baby Driver is a good one to listen to from an album called Rock n' Roll Over. Peter sings lead on that.

Each Kiss member had a solo album… Gotta check them out! Peter Criss was my favorite member I was 10 when Kiss hit the scene! And became a life long fan!

YEP. KISS 1973-1977 was a hungry beast, raw and dangerous rock n roll. When they put imposters in Ace and Peter’s makeup, they became a tribute band. For more of Peter’s voice, watch ‘Hard Luck Woman’ performed on Paul Lynde’s 70s Halloween Special. It’s enjoyable to get a person’s first watches of the real KISS. A lot of people use them to build their platform. For me, Stryper’s the Christian equivalent of KISS with decades of great music. 1975 I was 12 lmfao my friend had the Alive LP and we rocked it in his basement.

Peter Criss was an old school jazz bebop, swing schooled drummer. Google the photo from the 60s of Peter Criss, Gene Kruppa, and Jerry Nolan (other notable 70s drummer) all standing together. Epic photo!

Pete always had the most metal voice. Loved his rasp! Sounds like thrash metal from the 80's!

This right here is why the Kiss Alive album was a huge hit for them and made their career. The old day (1970's) Kiss with the original line up had so much energy and attitude. It was a fun concert experience. After the Destroyer album, the only thing really worthy is the post make up single Domino.

Yeah, they all can sing. Ace was reluctant at first but eventually took the lead on Rocket Ride, Shock Me, 2000 Man and more. They wanted him to sing Cold Gin back in the day but he didn't feel comfortable so he left it to Gene. During the reunion tour Ace sang the second verse, making me wish he'd done the lead on that one all along. For a different sound by Peter, check out "Hard Luck Woman." For something closer to this, check out "Nothin' To Lose."

I'm 51, didn't see KISS until 1983 unfortunately, but I was a young student of that Alive!/Alive II era before I ever saw them in person. For every "KISS sucks, how did you like them?" person I send out a vid of this particular era, up until '77. Those 4 or 5 years were ridiculous.

🎯Awesome🎯 reaction 👍🏼 one thing you gotta understand about the early 🔥K I⚡⚡🔥 era , the first 2 or 3 years of their existence , they hit the scene and turn the world upside down with nobody knowing what they look like they either had their makeup on or their face covered at all times that was the big deal to try to see them without the makeup on , but yeah it was cool back then I'm 62 and I grew up a big 🔥KISS🔥 fan but don't leave DEUCE out of the picture it's worth checking out see when bands would come on the show it would be like a mini concert like you just did KISS see they open the show with DEUCE , then they did SHE , and the end of the show with BLACK DIAMOND and of course Peter Criss destroyed his drum kit 😁SHOW OVER 😁LOL 😂 😆 😂 but any of the band you pull up on the show you'll see there'll be three or four songs they do call this done in concert format KZfaq has got it as single songs if that makes sense But one more thing about THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL it was hosted by a guy called WOLFMAN JACK It was on what they called Network TV way before cable and MTV , this is how we watch live music back in the day it came on SATURDAY NIGHT at MIDNIGHT an you watch your favorite bands perform , so all the classic bands were on that show back in the day with, NO AUTO-TUNE NO CLICK TRACKS just straight up talent , so look through the MIDNIGHT SPECIAL archives and you'll see the band I'm talking about EVERY CLASSIC ROCK BAND WELL ALL GENRES REALLY came through THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL when they were young and just start out trying to become SUPERSTARS that they are today okay cool man ✌🏼-OUT🇺🇸💯

I'm here to tell you that Kiss set the standard for show man ship! The one thing I loved about this band throughout the years was the ability for all members to sing lead. There is NO other band out there where one of the four members would sing lead. NONE!! I've been a Kiss fan since 1975 when I was 5 years old. NO band can match their ability as a band.

Saw them as a ten year old kid in 1979 in Roanoke, VA during the Dynasty tour. Then caught them again in Roanoke in 1996 during the reunion tour. Rock and Roll Over is probably my favorite Kiss Album.

l have been a kiss fan since 1976 and my all time favorite rock n roll album is kiss alive 1975 a must have for any kiss fan.

Back when KISS was still good. Blowing up the drum is really a tribute to Keith Moon.

Kiss’s first 3 albums were phenomenal!!!!!!! I don’t care that the critics called them simple and that they were just a gimmick. Jimi Hendrix said life was a gimmick!!!!! Watch KISS in 1975-76 pre Destroyer concert and they blow the roof of the place . Strutted, Firehouse , Cold Gin , Watching You are bad ass songs . I went from KISS to Zeppelin and I was in love with R’n’R from then on . Rock on brother.

When they were clawing their way up, they played with a very different intensity. And yeah, Pete had a great, raspy rock and roll voice perfect for that era. Years later, Paul would write a song called "Hard Luck Woman" and when I used to listen to it as a 7 year-old, I always wondered why they wanted to record a song with Rod Stewart on vocals. Well, it was Peter singing the song and years later I found out that Paul had intended to turn the song over to Rod when it was finished, but Peter said "no way" and claimed it for himself.

70's Kiss is awesome

It was said that Peter had quite a temper at times. He was spooked by an explosive that went off way too close to his drum kit and it sent him into a rage that made him thrash his drum kit.

Just listen to KISS ALIVE! Over and over and over like I do...hahahaha

Paul was always upset that Peter didnt write songs but always wanted to be singing lead. He would further get frustrated by their producers who thought Peter also had the better voice and would insist that they let him sing a song.

Kiss is a show a performance that has to be seen live. Once you see them live, it clicks.

Most of my favorite Kiss songs are Ace and Peter sung tunes. Shock Me and Hard Luck Woman top two all time!

Suggestion? Look at the video of kiss at Anaheim stadium 1976 black diamond version or Madison square garden 1977 ...they add a little tweak to the bridge and the energy will give you goose bumps.

This is awesome! YOU are the only guy doing these bro...this was when I discovered KISS, I was in 5th grade and my parents let me stay up and watch the Midnight special haha.. Peter Criss had such a great voice, Rod Stewart was his idol and he tried to emulate him! He also sings "Hard Luck Woman" "Beth" (of course) "Baby Driver" and "Strange Ways"..and a few others. GREAT singer..

Rock N Roll AllNite would be one live in 1996-1997. The reunion tour was a really good tour from the band, with all original members.
