Vlad’s control of ghost notes is like nothing I’ve heard before and there are moments where his open hand playing makes me wonder how he isn’t losing the stick when he hits hard notes. Thanks for the reaction, also, love Bulgaria when I visited, Sofia was kind to me.

Love all the players in JINJER...especially love Tati's vocals. Vlad is a beast and very innovative. He works perfectly with the other players. I knew he played piano, but till now, never equated his piano playing with his playing the drums, makes perfect sense. Thanx for your excellent reaction and insight to JINJER...

He flips his sticks quite often during songs and actually has some songs he plays all with flipped sticks. If I recall correctly, his "audition" video for Jinjer, he plays the entire song with backward sticks. It's on his personal YT channel.

At 6:00 Great Ghost Notes with both hands! I like how he accents on the beat with his left hand but plays a ghost on the others. Ghost Notes on The Snare are very subtle, but they add so much to this part of the song. He really makes this part of the song "feel" great. Well done Vlad.

Nice reaction and great analysis bro, yeah Vlad is a bad ass. I have another suggestion for you since you really enjoyed this. I think you would really enjoy reacting to Dmitry Kim's drum playthrough of "Captain Clock" by Jinjer. Dmitry was the prior drummer to Vlad, and let's just say, I have no idea what's in the water in Ukraine when it comes to metal drummers, but Dmitry is frickin phenomenal too. He would have been the permanent drummer, (Their prior drummer Eugene had a horrific accident and needed to be replaced) but he couldn't commit to Jinjers' touring schedule, so he was just a "fill" in drummer until they could find a permanent replacement which ended up being Vlad. Peace and as always, stay Metal. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶

It was nice to listen your analysis. I know nothing about drumming, no talent or skills with music, just love listening. You pronounce very well English, but bulgarian I know from my work (for example ex-boss), speaks also English quite well, but with accent. Jinjer have been one of my favourite bands almost 2 years now afted discovering them accidentally when I was searching music my romanian colleague suggested.

It’s hard to see in this video, but I think his rack tom is in the first floor tom position. 14” and shallow for a floor tom. I totally agree that his snare sound is great. I looked it up on Tama’s website, and I want one.

Sometimes he uses 12" & 16" toms in the floor position, and sometimes 14" & 16". In his previous band he was using a 2nd snare instead of the first tom.

Vlad actually clamps his snare to the bass drum with one of those hihat stand clamps. I had the same problem for a long time. I was hitting the snare hard enough to make the entire drum+stand bounce and start slowly creeping backwards. I use a Gibraltar stealth racks to mount my snare & rack toms and that solved the problem but prior to that I was using a bungee cord looped around my bass drum let to stop my snare moving around.

I just watched a Black Sabbath performance of War Pigs in Paris from the 70's and their drummer Bill Ward played with his sticks backwards. Not sure if this is where Vlad or other contemporary drummers got it from but it was interesting to see it from back then.

Flipping, or butt end, your sticks gives a fatter and louder sound and has a slightly darker cymbal strike as well. Think about the tonal difference from nylon and wood tipped sticks. When I play I am constantly flipping for tonal purposes. Butt end tom stroke sound so good...And generally, at least for me anyways, you can clean up your stroke and purposely not hit the rim and gouge your sticks. It's an old school thing...

Usually, drummers in live performances are perched upon a drum rise which sometimes isn't a solid platform and has some flexibility to it - so when they play hard the entire kit seems to wiggle and move even if the drum hardware is high quality.

You can be sure to have other Jinjer fan comments and followers if you react to more Jinjer videos (me included). But I watch your others reactions and because and I didn't find it I am curious to knows if you looked at Rush. It is an old band but their drummer, who passed away this year, was consider one of the best ever (some seeing him as the goat). If you have no clue who he is or the band, you could find entire rabit hole.. and the Rush army too :) I think Neil Peart is still the youngest drummer introduced to the hall of fame of drummer at the age of 23.. Just in case, if Pisce is the intro to Jinjer, Tom Sawyer (official) is the one for Rush.

Vlad is #BadAss! I love how huge he can make that kit sound, right down to super-tasteful soft ghost notes, & everything in between! I sense he's quite high-IQ & so really enjoys something more interesting than a basic 4/4.... I bet he had plenty input thru everything they wrote for the Micro EP & Macro album, as there are plenty of interesting timings in there. p.s. yes, Vlad loves that snare too! instagram.com/p/B7_mH3KAoC-/ ;)

Honestly a better video to really get a good look at Vlad's skills is "jinjer - pisces (live session)" - in that song he plays a ton of ghost notes and has a lot of very tight changes up and down along with intros and outros carefully timed to the rest of the group. It's just about as good, in technical terms, as any drummer I've ever heard.

Hitting with the big ends gives the track a heavier sound...if you're drumming with a set of 5's...they sound really good for most stuff and you can flip them for the heavier stuff......or you can use a set of 5's for regular banging and 2's for the heavy tracks...but who knows...Vlad might be using custom sets
