You can see plenty of her in their Studio live of Helloweens Eagle Fly Free. That is the most thing I seen from her, that can be called a solo. Their own songs dont have any drum solos. And since she always plays like its a walk in the park, she always smiles. She just makes people happy! :D

Haruna is phenomenal drummer besides Akane... and another one definitely worth check out is Ai Murata (stage name: Murata Tamu). She started playing drums in high school and studied under Masahiko Noguchi, Mour Lumi, and Mul Christian. She was in the girls band "SORAMIMI" from May 2013 to March 2017. After SORAMIMI she did lots of drum performance videos by herself and also invited some musicians with her and covering songs such as X JAPAN "Beni", BABYMETAL "Gimme Chocolate" and so much more on her KZfaq channel. She very much like the intensity and always add her own touch to the drumming (well, if permitted to showcase her own take on certain melodies) and she always hitting intense songs with a smile. She held her first drum solo performance in February 2017 and it was a completely sold-out solo drumming concert at the TSUTAYA O-CREST live music venue. She also released the self-produced DVD "Hyper Drum Training" and the self-produced CD "Innocent". She regularly appearance on the national music information TV "MUSIC BB" once a month, and a variety show "Tamu Zukan", which is hosted by herself about percussion instruments, on KZfaq. She appeared in NAON NO YAON every year since 2017 and had collaborated with Kahoru Kohiru, Shoko Aida and Ayumi Nakamura to name a few. She is one of the drummer support for idol group "The World Standard" and Gacharic Spin, etc. She made appearances as guest star in overseas festivals such as "NAKA-KON" (Kansas, USA) and TRIX live. She is very active with her drumming activities such as holding drum seminars at vocational schools and musical instrument stores, and Drum Clinic Tour in China. In 2018 she released a collaboration CD with Ladybeard and her own signature stick from TAMA. She is using TAMA Silverstar (Jet Blue Burst) and MEINL cymbals (both endorsed). In 2019 she was invited to perform in "Mayu Session Band" by Mayu (ex-LIPSTICK vocalist) and Haraguchi-san (ex-HöLDERLINS bassist). This supposed to be a one session band also includes Saki (Mary's Blood & AMAHIRU guitarist, ex-Destrose) and Hazuki (Li-sa-X band guitarist, Disqualia - this band isn't officially disbanded but put on hold). She and the rest of the band decided to make their quintet permanent and since then known as the NEMOPHILA. Everyone of them is regarded as a reputable seasoned musician and their combination made NEMOPHILA as the "Super Metal Band" as announced on their official debut in September 2019 at the METAL WEEKEND 2019, Zepp Diver City, Tokyo, where the band opened up for heavy metal legends, LOUDNESS and HAMMERFALL. Her channel have her own drumcam from NEMOPHILA and recently NEMOPHILA released video with only her for their single REVIVE.

Every time I see the “ever ready bunny “ I think of Haruna wind her up and press go!!!! 16th notes for days. I love how easy she makes it looks. I also love how she put a lot of thought in cymbal and drums, she gets maximum effect with minimal effort. Incredible!!!!

The exceptional level of talent from metal artists in Japan, can catch people off guard. Lovebites caught me completely off guard...so much talent in this one band, just isn't fair on the others.

Unless if it's been stated that a group is an idol group it's safe to assume that the band came together either through school or at the behest of a founding member.

What makes Haruna awesome, is that her mechanics are so effortless and energyefficient, that she can keep up this pace for entire 2 hour live concert, which is just nuts. Don't worry too much about the comments. Most of them were positive, and just explained that they are not manufactured. Only one or two more nasty remarks. Band was originally created by the drummer and the bassist(from the band Destrose), they looked for top guitarists and vocalists to join them, which played in other bands before. It was group effort by the girls to create this band.

Great video and I love the idea so many of the great female drummers get so little attention. You could start with these to add to the list; Junna who is a ball of energy from start to finish) recommend covers of DF Through the Fire and Flames, and anything else Mari (Mary's Blood), Akane (Band Maid), Pau (The Warning), Tamu (Nemophila), Marina (Aldious), Kawaguchi (Jazz), Sato (Jazz) etc..... The Japanese talent pool is very deep but there are so many great drummers out there so please have at it as it will be very interesting.

I want to second (or third, fourth . . .) some suggestions made in the comments. First is the video of Lovebites covering Helloween's Eagle Fly Free. It showcases all the band in a more intimate setting, especially Haruna. Second is to discover the Japanese drummer Junna, if you haven't already. Her drum cover of Through the Fire and Flames is mind blowing. Also good views of her foot work. She use to play in a band but has gone to strictly session work in the pandemic. Last, branch out to some other all female Japanese bands with great drummers such as Band-Maid and Nemophila. Another great young female drummer is Paulina Villarreal of the rock group The Warning out of Monterrey, Mexico. Like Junna, she has off the chart charisma while playing.

The placement of her Cymbals have to do with her height, she is only 4'9. I believe there was an interview that they discussed this with her.

One thing you should remember, many commenters aren't really musicians at all and are just talking out of their asses.

Babymetal are sort of an oddity in the world of rock/metal. Babymetal were a sub-unit of an Idol group that was put together by a talent agency, Amuse, from the young female artistes they had on their books. The idea was/is to train young people in the entertainment industry so they can go on to be dancers, actors, TV personalities, new readers and anything else entertainment wise. To handle the group they employed a few managers, one of those managers used to be a metal guitarist, who like J-pop, and took the job as it it so hard to make a living in Japan in the rock/metal world. That manager came up with the concept of a metal/j-pop act. It was an idea that every one said would not work, but if he wanted to do it he could, but with no backing. I am not saying that Babymetal were not manufactured, but there are a lot of big bands out there that have added/removed members down to management, which more or less is the same thing. Babymetal had no backing from Amuse, all the money they had was from sales of records, and they only got a record label due to the manager calling in a few favours, then it was a sub-label on an independent label, which was created for them. So yes Babymetal were put together, and it's something they would have not done, but it's not manufactured the way that you'd normally think of as a manufactured band, as in corporate manufactured. On other rock/metal bands in Japan, they are done the traditional way, because if you want to make money in Japan from music, you do not go down the rock/metal road. Japanese rock/metal is very underground the majority of bands are lucky to get 400 - 800 people going to see them. When I was last in Tokyo I went to see 4 biggish named Japanese bands and the venue cap was 250 and it wasn't packed out. Lovebites were put together by the bassist after the group she was in before stopped, and Haruna came with her. Band Maid were an idea from the rhythm guitarist who loved Maid Cafes and rock music so wanted to start a band that mixed the 2 of them, so did an internet search and found a guitarist, who knew a drummer, who knew a bassist, but when people 1st see Band Maid they think a man was behind them. The record label they were on used to be very controlling and the band almost split up, but the label let them release 1 song that the band wanted to release, and due to it being a big hit overseas the the label took a step back and let them do there own thing. So the one thing Babymetal has done for the Japanese rock/metal groups is open them up to the western world, and a lot of bands have seen it and are trying to get over to the west and play. Lovebites were one of those bands, they played in London just after a year of forming. There is a band call Nemophila that were formed with the sole idea of going out to the west to try and make it, but they formed at the end of 2019, just before everything went to shit. Babymetal was a subunit of an existing JPOP group. All Jpop and Kpop are big entertainment companies training people and the beat singers and dancers get spots in the groups that they form. JROCK and JMETAL bands are almost exclusively organic. There was a band called Destrose whose former members went on to form several other bands. Haruna and Miho came from that to form Lovebites. The issue you may have from the video is that they videotape live performances and edit the video and on occasion they might be off a few frames, or thr KZfaq playback may be off due to Internet connection issues. Well if someone said all the bands of Japan were manufactured they must have be KPop fans! The Korean bands are manufactured and modeled on Japanese bands from Johnny’s talent agency. KPop boy bands are poor kids pulled in and given extreme plastic surgery and bring in African American choreographers to teach them dance moves (which they frequently mess up when they perform, according to their fans.) As far as your commentary on Japanese bands, you are the ONLY on who’s ever reviewed these bands and made such comments about their talent. There is a guy from a channel called Songs and Thongs who actually owns a music studio and says they are definitely playing their instruments. The internet gives envious trolls a place to behave like anonymous a-holes.

Baby metal are 100% manufactured. Bands like lovebites, nemophila, and band-maid are 100% virtuoso who formed a band together through their own networking in the music industry in japan. There are tons of videos of lovebites, nemophila, and band-maid playing live where you can hear everything and see everything, mistakes and all, yes even lovebites which are easily THE most virtuosic metal band there is currently from japan. So yes, you sound like you figured that out LoL, but you absolutely are correct about baby metal. Baby metal uses session musicians and hired composers and has only 2 actual members, the 2 remaining lead vocalists, both of whom are only marginally allowed to contribute to decisions, while the owning company actually makes nearly all the decisions. I personally won't listen to baby metal for that reason - because I want a band that writes their own songs and plays their own instruments and worked their entire life to get to that point.
