It's still amazing to me that Tommy did the art for the video. The man's talent is insane. Interesting that you mentioned the limitation of composing an album that follows a story; one of my favorite things in the world is art created within restrictions, some great things are accomplished that way. Unfortunately, the context for that is usually governmental/societal oppression of art. PS - My favorite Christmas Carol is the 1938 version, although Muppet version is a close second.

Haruna uses a doublebass pedal, so she is using her right kick drum "only". You can see it when you pause at the right moment at around 10:37.

Every time I see the “ever ready bunny “ I think of Haruna wind her up and press go!!!! 16th notes for days. I love how easy she makes it looks. I also love how she put a lot of thought in cymbal and drums, she gets maximum effect with minimal effort. Incredible!!!!

All these ladies have mega talent. Lead / composer Kanami is probably a genius. Akane, the drummer, is something special. Apart from eating as much as three people her technique is apparently faultless, but would know better than I. All in a very special band full of mega musicians.

As you will find as you listen to more of the 100+ songs Band-Maid has produced Akane is not just about speed and power. Each member of the band serves the song and through the song those that are listening. Weather your into the maid aesthetic, the technical prowess or the melodic mastery of blending genres and styles Band-Maid delivers. If I may be as so bold to suggest a couple of tracks for your listening pleasure I would Suggest the live versions of "Rennie", "Freedom" and "Blackhole".

Baby metal are 100% manufactured. Bands like lovebites, nemophila, and band-maid are 100% virtuoso who formed a band together through their own networking in the music industry in japan. There are tons of videos of lovebites, nemophila, and band-maid playing live where you can hear everything and see everything, mistakes and all, yes even lovebites which are easily THE most virtuosic metal band there is currently from japan. So yes, you sound like you figured that out LoL, but you absolutely are correct about baby metal. Baby metal uses session musicians and hired composers and has only 2 actual members, the 2 remaining lead vocalists, both of whom are only marginally allowed to contribute to decisions, while the owning company actually makes nearly all the decisions. I personally won't listen to baby metal for that reason - because I want a band that writes their own songs and plays their own instruments and worked their entire life to get to that point.

There are plenty of Akane only videos on the CD releases...Some come with DVD's with member focused videos....Akane is now sponcered by TAMA..and uses TAMA Star Bubinga Drums ..and Zildjian cymbals...She also uses EVANS skins and has her own signature drum sticks made by Wincent...This MV was made years ago!..Early in BAND-MAIDs career..when some critics said they were not playing their instruments and were faking...So the ladies made individual videos of them playing...Akane played 2 tracks if my memory recalls...The other ladies did some also..But all have gone expect this one and one of Kanami doing a "One Ok Rock" cover.

Oh!Majinai! Roughly translates to "The Spell". In the song, they have been cursed to sing and dance endlessly and they are trying to find a way to break the spell, hence Moa's "Help me please! Please! Save me please! Please! Please please O please!"

The high-pitched growl was a pre-recorded backing track, but that is Moametal's (long pig-tails) voice. The other dancer is one of the 3 "Avengers" that rotate in and out of Yuimetal's spot, vacated in 2018 due to health reasons. The Avengers are not mic'd and do not sing. They only dance. Moa now sings all of Yui's parts as well as her own.

Is it confirmed to be Moa? Because I very very strongly doubt that, it definitely sounds like a male voice to me, possibly Joakim's because his natural voice is actually fairly bright or it could just be some unknown person.

Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. I think RoadRunner has it right from your description of the BABYMETAL song you heard when they were starting out, it has to be 'iine' (that is ee-neh, not Line) and it was only the second song they released as far back as 2011. 'Iine' starts out with some EDM and a bit of metal mixed in, drops into a short hip hop section then a sudden drop into death metal before returning to the EDM, but with a good double kick drum below it. They were establishing very early on that they were not going to be limited to just one style or genre, they were going to tear up all the rule books and mix whatever they fancied with the metal. It is a mad song and I can see how it would have put you off ... plus they were only 13 and 12 when they recorded it (they were 12 and 11 when they recorded their first song in 2010). They don't have any songs quite like 'iine' - but they will constantly surprise you - over 50 songs and each song different to the last. Have a listen to some of their other songs - RoadRunner's suggestion is a great one - another of their earliest songs, but nothing like 'iine' - plus it was their very first time in the UK (they love the UK and call it their second home) and their first major festival outside of Japan. They were moved to the main stage with just a couple of months notice and, as a 16 and two just turned 15 year olds who spoke hardly a word of English, they had to win over 50-60,000 UK metalheads - most of them didn't have a clue who or what BABYMETAL were. 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (you can call it IDZ) was the last of the 5 songs they played that day ... watch right to the end to hear what the crowd thought of them. You may need to add a filter like a transparent logo or something over the video so it won't be blocked. 'Oh! Majinai' was a great collaboration with Joakim. It is a fun song with many different European influences. Sabaton opened for BABYMETAL at the Dark Night Carnival shows in Japan in October 2018 and Joakim did join them on stage for a bit of one song ('Meta Taro'). BABYMETAL have not been able to tour or play live since 2021 because of the health restrictions and it has been hard to plan anything because the people who would have been building stages, doing lighting and so on were having to get other jobs. Now they are coming back with two shows in Japan later this month and Sabaton have been good enough to invite them to join their UK and Europe tour in April and May as special guests.

You were not far off when you said a Russian vibe...the base melody here is from an old Finnish Folk Song from back in the 1920's called 'Ievan Polkka' which was made popular again back in the 90's by a Finnish Folk Group called 'Loituma'!! It was also a very Big Internet Meme when it was covered by a character from the Anime 'Bleach' and given the nickname 'Leekspin Girl'!! Babymetal has done quite a few songs featuring other artists and were featured themselves in a 'Bring Me The Horizon' song called 'Kingslayer' off of a recent EP called "Post Human: Survival Horror". You should check that one out also and delve a bit deeper into Babymetal...they have been turning the Heavy Metal World upside down for the last Decade!! Oh, and 2 new songs just dropped recently from their upcoming new concept album...you have a Lot to check out with Babymetal!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!
