@@Jimboishere11 Yes, the man has chops, but comparative to the elite abilities of the top tier extreme metal drummers of today, his skills are rudimentary. Everyone uses this comment when describing the drummer of a band that they’re simply a fan of, but aren’t truly describing only the technical attributes of the drummer concerned. I’m a drummer and have been (in the technical death genre) for decades. Whilst I’m decent on a kit, it affords me the capability of intelligently rating the chops of professional drummers. I only listen to the bands with the best drummers on the planet and FFAA isn’t one of them. I could name 10 extreme metal drummers who indeed are the best and unfortunately Josean Orta isn’t in their league … that’s all I meant, with no disrespect. The drummers at the top of their game in the genres of Tech Death / Brutal Tech Death / Deathcore etc are inhumanly gifted and there just aren’t that many of them at such a level. e.g. Darren Cesca (drummer on the latest DEEDS OF FLESH album ‘Nucleus’) studied for 8yrs at the Berklee College of Music and one of his mentors was Mike Mangini (formerly of DREAM THEATRE) who aren’t a fave band of mine, but Mike is an incredible musician nonetheless. Darren is worlds ahead of Josean … and he’s just one. More of a prog musician than an extreme metal drummer, but who is also “one of the best”, is Gavin Harrison.
