Hey, thanks for posting the video, they're all amazing drummers! Roberto is definitely showing how fast he's able to play, lacking on "Story" in other words, the "valleys" are to steep, he definitely got the speed though, but he's just repeating what he already played when he "Climaxed" I hope I'm making sense, Simon and Dave got stories to tell and are able to play different styles of chops.

I started as a drummer (but moved on to songwriting, etc) and I just refuse to say who is best as there are too many musical genres + fantastically brilliant drummers out there to even contemplate comparing. I enjoy listening to countless drummers and that's it. You can sit behind a kit and make up your very own designed lick, practice the F out of it until you are better than anyone else in the world at THAT lick and say you are the best AT THAT LICK. But that is only one lick out of countless numbers of combinations of licks....

Roberto is a great drummer. But ppl throw Legend around like a hot potato. To put him in the same category of Legends like Dave and Simon without having history or a career to show for just cause he's really good is dumb.

I think back through the decades with Simon and Dave, One word comes to mind, unbelievable! These guys are the top of the top musicians in the business!! I'm not sure what Roberto is doing here. Plays good. Maybe Gavin Harrison couldn't make it that night.

Agree with an earlier comment - this is a sad comment section. While I do agree that Roberto doesn’t have the same legacy/track record or history as Dave or Simon, he clearly is a capable drummer. Additionally - and perhaps I missed it - did Roberto create this video and title it? Not sure why he’s being attacked the way he is… additionally it’s ONE video - one. And yet some of the comments appear to wrap up his entire playing style in one video… not him playing with a band. He’s doing a drum video…. I presume we’re musicians/drummers here - why not just appreciate the talent and not get so wound up about the title.

Roberto Porta won the Drum Channel Global Contest, impressing drummers of the caliber of Thomas Lang at just 25 years old. Good inferiority complexes to everyone. .....At a live event, while Roberto was doing the soundcheck at twelve o'clock, he was noticed by Jason Derulo who asked him to play the entire concert that same evening (because Jason didn't have a drummer). Roberto learned, by ear, in about 3 hours, about 20 musical pieces, to be performed in a concert version, that is, partly different from the original versions. He did this by repeatedly listening to a concert on headphones that Jason Derulo sent him via email. That same evening, Roberto performed his entire concert live with a romanian pop star and Jason Derulo entire concert, memorized in 3 hours. (Explained by himself in an Italian interview)

Roberto wasn't that appealing to me as far as musicality goes Weckl and Siphi are above him. I've never heard of Roberto before and after what I just watched I think ill keep it that way

I fully agree.I didn't hear music to sum it up coming out of the drumming.It was batter.He was not in control unhealthy pulse lacked dynamics as well as integrating his chops back into time smoothly and surely didn't play pleasant swing.He hit everything too busy to notice what he missed out.I never heard of this drummer.Too much to be done before he could play like the others.Dave and Simon are true pros.Big difference in the caliber.

Dawe sound music Porta play only technique very fast but very flat dynamic poor talent the third Is a classic good musician , but Dave is located on a diverse level of unicity style

but how the fuck can you compare legends like Weckl and Phillips to an emeritus unknown... who won a damn championship for who knows what?? but are we really joking... with the KZfaq bullshit?? but is a drummer really judged by this bullshit...if he wins a championship presided over by Thomas Lang?? Weckl and Phillips have built their careers collaborating with a myriad of famous musicians, recording a myriad of records listened to by millions of enthusiasts for decades... and this unknown nobody who among other things sounds like the worst amateur of the worst US school compares him to two giants of drumming.. It's true that in Italy only recommended ones go forward.
