He meant one where the player has control. That is a cutscene that is most likely hiding a loading screen. It's very obvious what he meant and that what was happening on screen was not that. Come on now.

it is such a perfect fit, i wonder why they havent done it earlier. monkey island is pretty old though, so i guess that might be why. most people dont know it today. i have never played it either.

the pirates of the Caribbean was a lot more than just hey its jack sparrow. solid fun new different missions and i'd expect the same care here

You could say the same about a film. If you're not playing a *game* for the GAMEplay, you're kind of wasting your time.

@@DovahFett not exactly. Films don't tend to immerse you as the character who is experiencing what is happening. Rather you're more of an external observer. With hellblade they still make you feel connected to the main character as if you're a part of the game even if the game mostly kinda plays itself.

@@sssenseiii What is gameplay? People nowadays equals gameplay to combat/action and if it doesn't have a certain % there's a tendency to side eye and say "it's not gameplay" It's pure arbitrary nonsense

​@@-neurasthenie-In the words of Lawrence: you press buttons and things happen. As opposed to: put the controled down for 5 minutes to feel something. Literally any kind of intetaction that is more than looking around. My main problem with these kind of games is that the story is never as good as a movie or a show and not even close to a book while the gameplay is just bad. And two bad things don't make a good one in my book.

@@sssenseiii So you see how the conversation shifts to "not a game" to "not a *good* game" That's my issue with this kind of "not a game" thinking, it's poorly thought out and deep down that road, low effort broken trash lives as "games" while something trying to evoke anything more than dopamine into the noggin is labeled as something lesser

Bruh there are thousand of games with male leads and fewer games with actual female leads. Even when there's a female lead there's still an option to play as a male.

Can I ask why? I genuinely want to understand why people even consider the bunches of pixels that denote the sex of a character and why it bothers them. I know I worded that like an asshole but to call it a non-issue, IMO, still gives the argument more credence than it's worth.
