I think Druski’s video was perfect for the audience that he intended it for. In hearing Angel specifically explain her perspective, it reminded me of how my mom would perceive videos I show her. She exists on a completely “different internet”, so she might need extra context to understand why she should care. I’m a young millennial (28), so this something that I see/have seen AT THE TIME. Men my age are not taking the time to listen/watch a video that they feel will call them out behavior that they refuse to believe is predatory. Disguising videos like these as “comedy” to me helps to soften the intro to the conversation…that is until twitter gets a hold of it, and everybody gets the “this is what y’all look like and it’s predatory” context that Angel was talking about.

Facts. 💯 and the sad part is the guys who need to understand this the MOST would never watch it if it had a disclaimer beforehand or was labeled otherwise. It needs more context--maybe at the end-- because a lot of people think this is ok or they are just used to it. Girls need to be able to identify this type of situation and how dangerous it is masquerading as a good time with friends. Dudes need to see how predatory they are in this situation because 9 times out of 10 their friends are encouraging this too. Dave Chappelle made a video where a guy is trying to hook up with a girl HE KNOWS will be drunk at a club within a certain amount of time and people thought that was funny and his behavior was applauded.

He asked me if I wanted a drink while I set up, of course I said yes, it was one drink and I knew I wasn’t staying long at all. Well I did end up staying because the “drink” had some bullshit in it. Never spoke to him again. Thought over and over about speaking up about it but I just keep it to myself because I already know how the world is. This behavior is wrong (which calling the character a “weirdo” implies that, however culturally the word has different connotations. Since I’m in LA I know it’s an insult. Older people or people in cultures that are not familiar with it being as bad of an insult that it is, may not understand.) 2. That predator may not be some stranger in the shadows, it may be your “homeboy” Do I think what he did was terrible? Absolutely not, but yes a text PSA along the lines of “1 out of 6 women will be a victim a SA or attempted SA in her lifetime. Often times the weirdo/perpetrator is someone she knows. We must continue to protect women. We must continue to recognize and call out predatory behavior” would have been nice(of course using SA to prevent the censoring). Nothing was wrong was the video. I wish he’d kept it up and I’m glad he posted it. Coercion is not consent. I didn’t see it as comedic. Just informative. And idk why anyone was offended by it unless they were a predator themselves. Weirdo is definitely the right word. It’s slang. It’s not a cute name. I don’t think he meant it to be funny.

Weirdo is a word used by a lot of witnesses to different crimes. For example, someone is a suspect in an assault, the witness who encounter the suspect will say, “the guy was a weirdo, or he acts really weird”. People usually don’t say he acts like a predator.

Kevin is right. Druski's comedy is a "look in the mirror" kind of comedy. Like "That one Co-worker that acts like a manager", or "That one frat boy at Pool Parties", or "That one Mom that takes PTA meetings seriously." Yeah like I’m sure a lot of the millennial generation knew exactly what he was trying to do and saying. Because his format is guided in that way, where he doesn’t have to over explain things because it’s pretty clear which angle he is coming from. Regardless if you’ve heard of him or not. Also the point was to make men feel uncomfortable because we’ve either acted in that way or have had friends who’ve acted in that manner. So if it made us feel a negative uncomfortable feeling it’s doing it’s job because we’re being held accountable AND we understand that behavior is NOT okay. We’re just lucky that it was given to us (men) in a form of a skit. But like Druski knows his audience isn’t dumb so he played into the character deep because we already knew where it was going. This was just another form of calling out men. This could’ve been a Informercial, a Facebook post a thread etc it just happened to be a video skit which was effective.

Great comment! A lot of young guys may not read articles and think pieces about this subject matter or even watch videos about it. The fact that it was 'one of them' calling them out was more powerful than any conversation you could try to have with someone. I don’t think it was necessary to put “how predators be” for his point to be clear. I liked that he stayed in character and didn’t flip it and have another character intervene or call him out because in real life these dude are WEIRDOS and definitely don’t call out their friends. This for me was clean cut: this is what y’all do, this is how y’all look, we see y’all and y’all are weirdos! It’s that simple. With the second Druski video that Kevin showed, I would argue this: the toxicity of the "insecure boyfriend" and the girlfriend having to go back and forth/rationalize/read and/or respond to (presumably angry) texts can be just as triggering for some people who have gone through similar things with their boyfriends. If anything the first "rape culture"-y Druski video was more obvious and less nuanced and easier to see the mirror. The second Druski video (insecure boyfriend) is subtler and not as terrible but still creepy and terrible.

I have seen videos of men literally saying this is how you coerce sex from women. A guy has a whole TikTok account dedicated to it and still hasn’t been removed. I don’t think Druski’s intentions were the same. Honestly, he should preface it with a short intro stating his stance on the matter and then it goes into the skit to avoid having it misconstrued.

He’ll set the scene n put on a movie but if she’s comfortable , he will let her make the first move .. the other guy on the podcast said it’s 30 minutes after the moment she walks through the front door they are having sex.
