I'm an ultrasound technologist and I work for one of the largest cancer treatment organizations in the U.S. I will never have a mammogram! Ultrasound and thermography are much more reasonable and accurate. MRI is also excellent for screening and for dense breasts.

I tried to bypass the mamo because they frequently (3 out of last 4) years called me back for an ultrasound. They said insurance wouldn’t cover it.

@@DrVikkiPetersenI don't want to get a mammogram because of all of the research I've done that is against it. My doctor will not put me on HRT unless I get a mammogram. What do I do? I feel like I'm being bullied into getting one even though I do NOT want one but I need to be put on HRT. How do I get a prescription for HRT without getting a mammogram? Do all doctors require a mammogram first?

Thank you Dr. Petersen! I am so mistrusting of the medical field because it seems to be more of a business model than a caring model. I question, I refuse to be put on drugs that I don't believe my body needs. I know my body better than anyone and it speaks to me every day. I just have to honor it and take good care of it by giving it healthy food. I have not had a mammo in the last 3 years because they are so very painful for me. I feel like I'm going into a torture chamber. All the tech's ever say is "take some advil, or don't drink coffee before your mammogram." No compassion. Then you have to wear only a thin open in the front gown and go sit in an extremely cold waiting room while they get your results. All the women there look sad and humiliated. The last time I had one, I said "No more of this!" I have been looking for an alternative, so thank you for the answers I have been seeking for so long! Bless you!

I agree with you 100 percent! I have never had a monogram. Never will. Colonoscopy oh hell no! Both are invasive and things come out of colon not put in!

I didn’t feel humiliated by the gown or the process. I just got really fucking pissed when I found out later exactly what it was because I had never had one before I was just told over taking a picture. Then after the whole thing happened, I had many questions because it wasn’t at all how they described it to me, after that, I immediately called the office and said do not send my pictures to my doctor. You guys did not explain the process and basically go fuck yourselves. Of course I couldn’t say the last part, but I really wanted to.

I have an appointment for mine this Wednesday! I have been dredding to go! For some reason I felt it in my gut to do my research and found many videos on on harmful they are! I didn't know there was other options for us. I will be asking for ultrasounds for my breasts from now on! Thank you for this video! I will spread the word to every woman I know❤

My gut just tells me to not get a mammogram ... I only ever got one once and that was 20 years ago. I regret getting that one, that was my first and last. I personally think doctors look at the mammogram results and they don't know what they are looking at and they decide to treat as cancer. "Follow the money".

Thanks so much for this info. I was worried about my girlfriend getting a mammogram for the exact same reasons. She was headed to an appointment this morning when I decided to do some research and came across this video. I was able to stop her as she was getting checked in to her appointment. Didn't know that an ultrasound is a safer alternative and she will now request that from her doctor. Thanks so much!

Thank you, I have only had 3 mammograms and I am 60. I've had one about every 5 years. It's been almost 2 years since my last one and my doctor is having a fit for me to get another one. I don't like the idea of all that radiation zapping my breast. In the past 20 years I have known of more women to have breast cancer or have to have a lump removed. I only knew of one lady who had breast cancer before all of the yearly mammograms started. That was 45 years ago. I knew that there had to be a connection. I'm not having any more of them done.

The connection is that early detection can save your life. A mammogram can find breast cancer years before you feel it in your breast. In some cases.

Thank you so much for this invaluable information! I was just at my doctor yesterday and he is INSISTING that I must go for a mammogram! I told him that I had never had one and never intended to - he practically demanded that I give him a good answer right now, on the spot! Lol I have never had one either! Be 60 in march! Right now I’m battling with type two diabetes. I been on wonderful jardience for months now didn’t change a1c. That’s crap! Won’t be taking that anymore! I know my body and what is not working.

I have been talked into 5 mammograms so far, to my eternal chagrin. I have a hereditary condition of iron overload, not caught early. The iron has been offloaded, but damage has already occurred. I have fibrocystic breast(s), went for an ultrasound which I requested, when I got to the appt, "doctor" there heavily pressured and attempted to coerce me into a mammogram. This after the doctor's office attempted to change the order to force a mammogram. Unbelievable! I resisted and refused.

Every time I see my gynaecologist he tells me to get a mammogram. He tells me they don't hurt, and I wonder how he would know. I've always been suspicious of them, and think that maybe the fact more women die of breast cancer now is because more of them have mammograms. I'm glad I stuck to my guns and haven't had one, nor will I.

There's your answer right there - 'they don't hurt' and yet he's never had one.. Keep stickin' lady, My mother died at 54 years old from 'doctor treatment'. She never saw her 3rd grandchild nor her 7 great grandchildren. Doctors think they're so smart and don't realize they're killing their patients - because the money hides the truth.

Thank you for your excellent advice. Years ago I was 35, they wanted to take a biopsy after a mammogram which was extremely painful, my breasts severely ache for over a month! _ I researched the screening process and percentage of biopsys, surgeries, success rate, etc. I concluded that more often that not, the diagnosis was wrong and the standard male Medical community, A.M.A, could not care less about women's health. Insurance companies Lobbyests are who insitute laws to their benefit, not to ours in any way shape or form. _They scared me into believing I may have Cancer and pushed for the biopsy and surely for surgery thereafter. I walked away and never again had a Mammogram. A decade and a half, I am still healthy and ALWAYS skeptical of the Medical standards of treament. __ As you said, Radiation is carcinogenic. I would add to not only throw away all artificial food, and never use products with preservatives and chemicals (including make-up) but to only consume ORGANIC prooduce and NO MEAT.

So you had a biopsy after a mammogram only? I found a good sized lump in my breast. It just appeared one day. I know because I check my breasts every day. I had a mammogram and then an ultrasound. Then the biopsy was performed. There was nothing to the biopsy. No pain or bruising. The worst procedure I’ve had was the breast MRI.

I've fought the mention of a mammogram for years. I have always suspected that it would cause cancer since it is a concentrated blast of radiation. Thank you for the facts you shared!

every year my dr.'s office says I need to get a mammogram - I've repeatedly told them I won't do a mammogram, but I'll do a sonogram...This has been going on since my daughter was born in 02...they still don't offer sonograms... BTW, I was 42 at the time. Oh, and my GP at the time noticed a bump and sent me to have a mammogram done - while I was nursing (he knew I was nursing)...the radiologist asked if we were nursing (yes), asked to look at the bump (it's in the armpit area!) and refused to do it - 1. you can't nurse after a mammogram! and 2. there's no way he could have even imaged the area that they wanted him to test/image?!?!

It's not my doctor that is pressuring me to get a mammogram. She writes a prescription and tells me I should get one. She is never pushy. It my INSURANCE COMPANY that is pressuring my doctor to compel patients to get them. The insurance company drops doctors that according to one comment from the doctor's office staff, " Needs to control her patients."

Dr Vikki, THANK YOU for explaining this in detail!!! 57 & Never had a mammogram and never will!!! I learned about the Swedish study years ago Here in Tampa Bay there's a place to get Thermograms but they're expensive. Thermograms are better and can predict cancer much earlier. My female PCP is super pushy about mammogram. I've had two or three mammograms over the years, (I'm 51) and a couple ultrasounds because of my dense breasts. I found the ultrasound to be very uncomfortable, almost painful, and it took a long time. I'm not getting any more mammograms or ultrasound because I think over-diagnosis and treatment are more of a threat to my health. I'm going to hope my whole foods plant based diet and exercise will prevent a serious breast cancer, or any other cancer. Considering the mainstream medical system is a fee per procedure based system, and most doctors know almost nothing about nutrition and prevention, I have little confidence or trust in the mainstream medical system. I really appreciate your video!

April Hall The one at my hospital takes 40-50 minutes each breast. I end up black and blue from my breasts, to my arms, down to my abdomen. Once they listened to me about the blood thinners, I now get ultrasounds and MRI checks.

Medical/ Pharma is about $$$..and they need you to keep the $$$ flowing. Interestingly enough.... the non- radiation/ non-invasive modality of ultrasound isn't covered by insurance neither is mri...BUT mammograms are!!! For goodness sake they (medical community) wouldn't even consider recommending that a healthy diet and some sort of daily movement/ exercise will greatly improve one's overall health. I went to an authentic TCM ( Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor, and I must say that I was most impressed with the level of care and attention. One visit and my issue was resolved. Mind you, I had already paid a visit to a M.D, and the E.R. Now, as a part of my wellness maintenance, I go for my accupuncture periodically. Also massages does wonders for the body.... I went with a friend of mine to one of her chemo treatments per her request. During her IV treatment; a nurse came around with a snack cart for the patients. Would you believe that Coca-Cola was in the snack cart. My friend opted for a can of Coca-Cola. I asked her if she lost her Damm mind. WHY WOULD A CANCER TREATMENT CENTER SERVE COCA-COLA TO THEIR PATIENTS?? ?

I had my first one at age 36 then 43 47and 50, then From 2005 to 2013. I had one every year. That was my last one because I inherently knew that it was dangerous. I wish I had never done it. It’s as if the medical establishment wants women to get breast cancer.

They do not tell you that radiation therapy causes cancer. That is how my mom died. She had a lumpectomy then had radiation therapy. The lump came back. She had a masectomy and more radiation therapy. Fifteen years later she died from angiosarcoma caused by the radiation therapy. Wait......doesn't radiation therapy cure cancer? That us what my cousin said. See, no one tells you that you can die from radiation therapy.

Thank you for this. I lost a sister to breast cancer, I had a mammogram every year., this year they sent me to get an ultrasound and told me they found nothing. Well they came back and wanted three more mammograms. Then they came back and said "you have no cancer. well I told my doctor NO MORE MAMMOGRAMS for me. I have had trouble with the breast every sense. They did not tell my doctor they did 3 more mammograms, plus the ultrasound.

New study, Nov 2012, New England Journal of Medicine, "Effect of Three Decades of Screening Mammography on Breast-Cancer Incidence" - "We estimated that breast cancer was overdiagnosed (i.e., tumors were detected on screening that would never have led to clinical symptoms) in 1.3 million U.S. women in the past 30 years..." this has led to many women being given toxic treatment (chemo, radiation, surgery), illness, loss of income, death... when they never needed it.

Ive been called up for a mammogram again and I have been anxious dreading in fact again, deciding what I should do this time around. Every time I had a mammogram my breasts were bruised, as I haven't much to put into that squashing machine. Im a designer by trade and I have never understood this archaic machine that has been used for decades (Im 63 now). Wondered a lot if a badly designed machine putting a very sensitive part of the male body part through such a compressing machine, how long would it have lasted as a standard procedure in detection of cancer! Thats my opinion. I was prepared decades ago to go through the pain as the knowledge presented then and now still, was that it was worth it. It was no pain no gain attitude. Now listening to a female doctor, who presents the facts, I think my feelings all along have been right. I really hope that your message reaches woman much younger than me and that the health service changes there procedures as there is a better way of women's breast cancer preventive care to be handled better for the future, according to your research. Just an add on. I really think womens health in general has been a side note in history, time to turn the tables on that! Thank goodness for physicians like Vikki Petersen are pointing this out. So I hope for the future that my daughters will be able to make informed judgements to what they put their bodies through. Thank you Vikki for making a difference.

I am scheduled for my first one this next week, I'm 50 years old. My nurse practitioner found things she thought were suspicious. I knew I didn't want to for these reasons! I am cancelling it tomorrow for sure. I just started juicing organic carrots and my diet is pretty clean. Mostly lower carbs.

A dear friend of mine has stated that she had talked to a very smart man who really studied the breast tissue(s) & learned as a literal fact that mammograms are absolutely 💯% NOT A HEALTHY WAY TO TREAT YOUR OWN BREAST TISSUE(S)! This man deeply cared about this (so-called) breast examination! Said: to absolutely LEAVE YOUR BREASTS RADIATION FREE! Many thanks for this interview. My family has been starting to tell me that it’s definitely time for me to get 1 done as soon as possible, just to keep away from cancer even starting in the breast in the 1st place! My opinion is nope 👎, don’t want a mammogram 1 little bit! Would only be willing to try another form that’s much safer, no danger to my own breast tissue(s) thanks.

I can’t thank you enough for this video, Dr. Petersen. This has been weighing on me. I’ve had a couple of mammograms in the past and one showed a false positive (I have dense breast tissue)… and just as you said, the ultrasound confirmed it was nothing. I’m 45 now and my doctor keeps pressuring me about getting a mammogram and colonoscopy… neither feel right. I’m going to ask for an ultrasound instead of mammogram so you just made my decision easier.

Got my 1st one at 40. Dense breast call back, anxiety, fear for a month. Got 2nd mammogram and ultrasound. Dense breast and all clear. 48 now and refuse to get another one, no family history and after lots of research I have learned fear is driving these test. Also all breast cancers are not the same, yet all treated the same bc they cannot tell the difference with mammogram. My doc downplayed radiation fears and almost like I was crazy to question it.

Just cancelled my appointment. My gut has always said NO. My gut also said NO to a Lymphectomy - which I was basically forced into having. Three years later, I had a cancer tumour in a lymph node area ~ after already battling the threat of Lyphedema from the treatment. Lymphectomy is terrible too.

Can fibrocystic disease create scar and distortion. Would a biopsy be required? I liked your video and learnt a lot. Hope you would give your expertise on this question. Thanks

I have had a double mastectomy. The mammogram did not detect it. I had an ultrasound and it noted a calcification which was biopsied, and was negative. While waiting, they used the BSGI machine Breast Specific Gamma Imaging. This rendered a much different result seeing its way into the dense breast tissue. If it had not been for this test, things would have been very different. Thank God my doctor requested a diagnostic test to determine what was in the dense breast tissue.

I got a Ultrasound order from my Dr. , but the Imaging center said by protocol they have to do a mammogram then an ultrasound. How can I get just an ultrasound?

You need to be insistent. They'll always so it's their protocol. You may need to pay cash for the ultrasound but if you insist they typically will give in.

I just had mammogram I'm 46 last I had it done was 40 since my mother had a stage 2 cancer. When I was in radiology dept. the technician asked me if I ever had an ultrasound on the 1st mammo I told her no since both were negative. After 2 weeks I saw my result the right breast had false positive radiogist recommending ultrasound BI-RADS=0. After this last mammogram this will be my last, I felt forced to do this further testing. My coworker who is a nurse keep insisting for me do it since she had a lumpectomy but I feel that I don't really need it since I have a healthy lifestyle. So we'll see what the outcome after the US.

My doctor wants me to get a mammogram. My boyfriend wants me to get one too. I told both no because of the radiation. I have saline implants. The only time I had a mammogram was in 2002 before I got implants. I'm 57 now and pretty healthy. I work in the health care industry. I see what chemotherapy does to these patients. It's weird to me that during covid, cancer went away. Heart disease went away. Now they are back? The EUA is over. I'm not going to get a mammogram. Does California have thermography places?

I don't know what happened in the States but here in Britain but cancer patients were neglected during the so called pandemic. My friend had to fight for her mother to receive treatment during the time they blocked most people from visiting the hospitals. She got treatment but died after returning home after a hospital visit. My friend said every time her mother came from her hospital visits her health seemed worse. She only seemed to get better when she was home. I asked a nurse I know who works in my local hospital who was dying of c19 and the first thing she said was cancer patients. Make of that what you will. Also they never put the cause of death on any death certificate as the cancer treatment, it is always the cancer.

Interesting radiation causes cancer! And mammograms are radiation machines! They’re not a safe form of checking the breast at all! Thank goodness there’s another way of getting checked that doesn’t involve radiation whatsoever! Yay! As I’ve stated before below 👇I’m not willing to go the route that supposedly catches any cancers & stopping it extremely early in its tracks! “tomography” is 1 of the best ways/routes to go. I’ll only go the healthiest route period! This is Oct 2023. Altrasound is also a good route to go as well!

I am so relieved to hear what you had to say about the dangers of mammograms....my new medical dr DID hound me and I'll even say bullied me about my personal decision to not do anymore mammograms..I'm almost 47 and I have very dense breasts .I have always been told in later years that they are fibrocystic breasts. I've had 3 screenings and 2 out of 3 I had to have repeat ones !!! A good friend whom beat stage 4 breast CA holistically told me ONLY do thermogram or ultrasound . I mentioned this to my physician and she said the mammogram screening is MORE RELIABLE 😲 I see her at the end of this month and I just want to walk in there w confidence in what I'm saying and my decisions but she just makes me feel like i have no idea what I'm talking about . She says eith my maternal aunt having had breast cancer and my own mom dying of ovarian she said my decision was not a very smart one .

I have a letter for a mammogram, I don’t wish to go. You have given me food for thought. I’m not sure if the uk will offer a ultrasound. I will see 🌸

Thank Dr. Vikky for the powerful information, do you know where I can only get the sonogram? because I live in Florida and the protocol is first the mammogram and then the sonogram. The two are together not apart. Please, if someone can help me with this, because I can't get a mammogram, I have breast implants and I did it once and the pain is horrible.

It’s a little too late now. I’ve had a mammogram for many years. I plan on stopping now. Plus I’ve had CAT scans other x-rays a lot for my teeth didn’t want them but they give you no choice so I’m not very happy about this. I know radiation isn’t good and I hope and pray I don’t get cancer but you don’t know anymore what to eat today because All the food seems to have chemicals or preservatives. It seems like we’re doomed, no matter what

I understand. It CAN be overwhelming. The mammogram radiation has decreased over the years, so that's some good news, but yes, we are surrounded by a lot of chemicals. The key is to decrease as much toxic exposure as you can, ensure your detoxification pathways are working well and that you eliminate well (bowels, sweat and hydration). I am 74 and had about 10 mammogram s .but i had a ovaria tumor , it was removed .I am clean nothing to see on the CT scan . I feel kalm sleep wel eat healthy , and don't wordt .i stopped al Sugar. Never worry. Be happy sing . I use D vit C pad .i am fine .

Calling dense breasts fibrocystic breasts makes it sound like dense breasts is aome kind of disease when everything is in fact normal.

Dense breast tissue isn't considered normal. It's not a disease nor is it cancer, but it isn't normal either.

Thank you, yes. I also have a complex cyst which must be followed up on. Because of the iron overload, I'm concerned re: ovarian cancer. Do you have any recommendations with regard to natural progesterone treatment for the cyst? Or maybe dietary, like iodine or foods or herbs? Anything to dissolve a cyst? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks.
