DRY CANNING POTATOES

We start by me digging up the potatoes to Mister washing them in a 5 gal bucket to the kitchen. Today I want to dry can potatoes to add to other canning goods we have for our pantry.

Thank you for the parslied potato idea. My grandson loves them. I noticed that you did not change the cloth position for some of the jars when wiping the rims. I use paper towels to clean the rims with vinegar and use a different section of the towel to wipe the rims. I loved the fact that you mentioned that you have to watch that gauge! I am considering buying an electric pressure canner because The gauge watching doesn't allow you to do much of anything else outside of the kitchen.

Hi Jessica..... I totally agree with you about getting an electric pressure canner. I can't seem to do anything but pull up a stool with a good book so I can watch the gauge and it is so annoying. However we do love the product after its all said and done. Let me know who the electric canner works out for you. Hugs and blessings.

Enjoyed your video. I recently dry canned potatoes for the first time. They turned out great but they shrank down in the jar a lot. Next time I will pack them tighter.Dry can French fries for us sometime. Thanks for sharing your canning knowledge.

Beautiful potatoes! In all my years of canning I have never dry canned potatoes. I may give it a go. Please continue prayers for baby granddaughter she is having all kinds of complications. ❤🙏

@@WattsUpYall carrots are delicious too. And I actually prefer to can all my ingredients for beef stew separate and then toss them in the pot together they all turn out perfectly done.

AWE... well arent you sweet. Yes we are doing ok just had a lot going on when my son drove up (17 hour drive) from Houston Texas. We had a large time but now we are back at the ole grind again. Mowing, mowing, mowing, did I mention mowing? Had to clear my booth, trying to get the Bible study up and going again etc. Its been crazy. Keeping my eye on Sammy and Pasim just walks around not sure what room she wants to be in.... lol . I also get like that.... hahaha. Broad fork dirt either side of rows to loosen and potatoes are right there for you

Its called dry packing , dry canning is done in the oven ..

My only problem is you’re not stirring those potatoes with your God given tools. Your hands. 😊But your taters look great.i find cleaning with vinegar makes sure the butter is off that rim. But when the butter cooks it can also splash or bubble to hit the rim when processing. So it’s just the way things happen sometime. They looked delicious.

Think you are set on potatoes! How do they do them for mashing, or do you use mostly for frying and boiling. Just wondering if they are too gritty for mashing. Do you ever just hot pack without pressure canning? What type of things would you hot pack. BTW enjoyed your live! Mister does have an ornery side. His humor is so much like my husband. Looking forward to seeing your next video. Maybe a yard sale trip with us would be fun!

Haven’t tried mashing my potatoes as of yet. Will have to give it a whirl the next time I open a canned potato batch.
