As a competitive shooter, I’m alsways looking for products that would help me increase my speed (steel challenge/USPSA). This thing doesn’t drop free to help with reloads. This thing does not reset the sear/striker, so it can’t be used with a laser trainer. Lastly, this thing doesn’t simulate the actual trigger feel, so it’s useless to practice with. If it was free it would still be a waste of time. At $100, it’s insane!! Thanks for a great review on a useless product. Exactly why I consult KZfaq before I make purchases like this!! Thanks for doing the only honest review I've found on this thing. Their marketing "feels" scammy, and leans heavily on "multiple shots" while never actually claiming it resets the trigger, so I suspected it was something along these lines. Your video is the only one I've found that actually shows the mechanism at work, so thank you!

Too expensive. They should rather drop the price to 40 bucks and they would sell 20 times the volumes. Dont think their cost lies in the product but in their overhead costs so selling more would help them. Cant bring myself to justify that cost. Thanks for the review.

Good idea to dry fire. Nice not to have to rack slide all the time, but I just don't think it is for me. If it was 39.99 I'd probably buy it. Not for $100.

I was considering this product because I wanted to develop muscle memory with my Glock 17. Having to constantly rack the slide would’ve been counterproductive to that goal. But I’m surprised of the build quality for its price. I appreciate you telling us that it doesn’t truly replicate the actual trigger pull either, and that it doesn’t really seat into the mag well like a factory magazine. I guess I’ll pass on this too. Very helpful. Thank you! An airsoft gun like an Umarex G17 seems like an adequate alternative, given that they're both around $100. Also, the Umarex G17 takes 12g Co2 canisters; which will simulate recoil. Don't even need the BBs. Just a thought.

I like to use the KWA ATP Glock 17 airsoft training pistol. You can use it with or without the plastic pellets. Great training aid if you have two of them to practice active killer training.

Works excellent along side my MantisX X10. Definitely has improved my grip and trigger press skills!!

100% useful! I am a firearms instructor for a major Police Department and have used it to great and quantifiable success. It’s a tool… use it as such. With proper direction with respect to the fundamentals, it does in fact help. I will say, I used it for a year straight in classes and dry firing… probably 30,000 presses along with a Mantis X. It broke in a year, due to said usage. IMHO, well worth the 100 bucks.

Appreciate your straight forward review. So close to purchasing the DryMag until I saw the review. I really wanted to purchase this mag so I wouldn't have to rack the slide each time when in use with my SureStrike Laser I purchased a few years ago. I also found out the SureStrike Laser I have does not work with this mag, as my current SureStrike laser is activated by the firing pin. Since the DryMag does not reset the firing pin/striker, it won't work. However, they have an option to purchase a SureStrike laser that can be used with it that does not need the firing pin/striker to reset. However, the cost of the DryMag and new type laser is cost prohibitive. The other details you provided (pros/cons) were excellent.

Buy once, cry once. I’ve had mine for over two years now with no issues. Works as advertised. Review is spot on. It is NOT the be all end all but you get what you put into your dry fire practice. I practice my straight back trigger pulls, double taps, and site alignment. You can get a very clear picture of exactly what your muzzle is doing at the moment the trigger breaks - very important to me. Especially useful for dry fire motion practice where you are on the move and helps build your timing skills. You also don’t wear out your gun parts with constant slide racking. Just my two cents. 👍🏻👍🏻

Was about to jump on this, but then heard the price. From then on, seemed like a carnival gun and I fell out of love.

With a Glock you can open the slide & put something at the back on the side to hold it open about an 1/8th inch or so & trigger will move back & forth. I used a zip tie folded in half, bit thin cardboard folded or whatever you come up with will work, Like others I was interested in the DFM until I saw the price.

It is expensive but I got a $20 coronavirus19 discount and bought it. Thank you for a well thought out review. Just as you explain, "A supplement to dryfire practice."

They sure do sell it as a miracle solution to dry firing(and they nearly had me) but in the end the only thing that can replicate the actual feel of dry firing IS dry firing. Thanks for the run down

Yeah it's disgusting how expensive it is.

I'll just go with the E trigger. It doesn't have the same tension but for muscle memory practice it does the trick . Plus it's way cheaper and I can do mag changes with my magazine and dummy rounds

Fantastic review, just saved me $100. I'd rather work the slide all day long and get a real trigger pull. Was going to match it with a laser target system but now think I'll just stick with my kids PlayStation game which is pretty much the same thing.

I use a airsoft gun with about the same triggerpressure. Here in the Netherlands the pistol needs to be behind lock and key at home only or on a bench for maintenance. Airsoft is allowed when you have a membership of an airsoft club . Try this and see what you think , take a PVC tube of about a yard and fill one end loosely with cottonwool the diameter of the tube varies according your confidence and skill level. That tube is your target mine is suspended with cables so you can rock it and the target moves , my dist. from the tube is 2,5 yds (sorry I do not have a bigger room). And my wife does not like those pellets everywhere. Load the airsoft pistol and take aim at the tube and fire. And if you want to go into detail at what is happening film it . OH and don't forget good eye protection. Try it before you make fun of it see how well airsoft translates to shooting.

Have you ever used with laser ammo vibration laser Cartridge?

The thing I like is that it does NOT have you rack the slide. It saves on that area and does not ingrain the slide racking habit into your training regimen. It is good, but the $100 is a bit much.... I don't recommend it anymore as the price kills it.

Would you bug again knowing what you know now? That is my question. I feel like the price is steep for a clicker, but like you said might be more to the interals

If you don’t care about the “click,” you can just put a piece of paracord in the slide to stop it from going to full battery.

ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. screw all of you who complained about the noise. Dry practice is basically make believe shooting. The price and construction are valid concerns, not the noise. Cocking the gun each time is much worse than practicing with this thing. I have a rds on my pistol so i can see the dot bouncing around depending on my grip

I definitely don't care for the Dry Fire Mag. I had one for 2 weeks and sent it back. Now I already own several SIRT Pistols so they offer a much better simulation albeit with a few minor draw backs but all in all better than the DFM. Some of my clients asked me about the DFM and I tell them I don't care for it and then send them your review and let them make their decision. Excellent review

I don't think people understand what effective dry fire practice is. No dry fire method is going to mimic your gun's functioning, including trigger pull, precisely. It's impossible. Pulling the trigger and racking, pull and rack, pull and rack - that is such a bad way to practice. It doesn't matter if your trigger pull during dry fire (any method, not just this DryFireMag) isn't the same as your gun's in live fire (or your first pull after racking the slide.) Seriously, it does not matter. That's not the purpose. Get Ben Stoeger's book on dry fire. It's the best guide out there. No one shoots/racks, shoots/racks, shoots/racks a self-defense situation or IDPA match, why on earth are you doing this when you practice? When it's time to act, people fall back to their training. Under stress skills degrade. If you dry fire far more than you live fire, which should be how you practice, why are you training your mind and your muscles to rack after every shot? Do you need to be confused or focused under stress? Pull/rack, pull/rack, pull/rack - you are missing out on practicing follow-up shots, moving, scanning, etc. Train properly. It could save your life. There are two excellent methods for dry fire that I've found - this DryFireMag and the SIRT pistol, which costs 3-4 times as much as a DryFireMag. I also have a Mantis X10, and combined with DryFireMag, you have feedback out the yin yang showing you what you're doing right and wrong. A Mantis X10 is about $250. With a DryFireMag, that's $350 total. How much are you flushing down the toilet at the range? I didn't know how wasteful I was until I got my head out of my rear and learned how to dry fire effectively, after taking classes by a few world class instructors. Dry fire is practice, live fire is your test. Practice effectively for the test and you'll do better on the test and you'll stop wasting ammo.

I think when combined with MantisX DryFireMag could really be useful in building basic skills.

I am a new to gun and while I was practicing dry firing I had the magazine in. Not the magazine you have but just regular magazine that came with the gun. Is it okay? Hopefully no damage was done.

You can also get a dry fire trigger group from the glock store in San Diego.

$100 for this is nuts. I am going to attempt converting a real mag into a dry fire one.

I dunno if you frequent Glock Store but he has dry fire systems for glocks that will reset automatically and do much more than this dry fire magazine. Theres systems with a laser or without . I think it might be better for what you need your gun to do.

product seems well intentioned and trying to fill a niche but for me the mechanism and price are off. the nature of an autoloader it's tough to simulate repeated shots with dry fire

My ruger SR9 says they made it so that you can dry fier without wearing out the parts I will soon. Find out.

Good review but it's old now. The newer model (as of 12/2019) comes with different springs to be able to adjust your tension. Those that may not know.

Should be called "Sort of Simulates Dry Firing Mag" and really only beneficial for Glocks with their DAO "SAFE" trigger that goes dead after firing (no trigger return spring).

Bought this on amazon, returning it right away. This is NOT dry fire training. I worry more about training scars and taking yourself further away from the true feeling of the triggers pull weight, the striker actually operating, etc. This is truly no good. Remember, Practice doesnt make perfect, practice makes permanent.. inly perfect practice makes perfect.. this is far from perfect and while it eas a cool idea, i truly wouldnt use this even if it was free. It was $100 so I'm kinda annoyed i didnt watch more vids on this before buying it. This product is nothing like the blackbeard system from mantis. Hopefully they will figure out how to properly reset the trigger and cycle the slide. For anyone whos looking for something that really does cycle the slide and simulate real dry fire training, i highly suggest the cool gire trainor, which is a co2 system that uses a barrel replacement made for your model. Its a nearly perfect training system that replicates real live fire training with full trigger reset and slide cycling. As of now, i do not know of anything better than the coolfire trainer.

You don’t really need that device to simulate dry firing. Dummy rounds is the best device to practice the physical mechanics of how to use your own gun.

hundreds of dollars worth of entertainment and training value. it's worth many times its price in videogames, movies, books... AMMO.

Or just put a card between your breachface and your barrel and you can press off multiple shoots! You also can’t do reloads with a Dryfire mag!!

Another video shows someone using a piece of paper to stop the glock from fully going forward in the slide and you can pull the trigger. I'm going to do that although it is a tad worse since the trigger has practically no resistance. But it's a step down from this but up $100!

It's a dang clicker mounted inside of a Mag... You may as well just pull on the dead trigger. I bet it doesn't even work with the laser target systems... Which is were I would see a benefit., since the laser target systems require you to re-cock before each shot. Way too expensive for the asking price. good god $100...... Thats really cool and innovative that they figured out how to have multiple trigger pulls and all.... but it needs to be $25 - $40..... not $100... i'll go get ammo first.

I wish I had watched this before I bought one. I do have a better understanding of how my gun works now though. So I guess it’s both a win and a loss.

Sorry, but not for the $100.00 they cost. I'll use my old Frog Clicker from when I was 6. Yes, I still have it and yes, it still clicks correctly.
