My hair was in a sad state from both years of straightening and bleach damage. So I've had it cut pretty short and am just going to focus on health and growth. Part of my issue is my hair is natirally dry and coarse so it's been a big step just to stop hating my hair texture and find what products boot mosture and add definition and dobt harm my hair or dry it out . I enjoy your videos.

Love the lip colour! I actually don't know my porosity and for now I'm fine with it. Feels like my hair takes in water well and dries fine and different parts of my hair operate differently re water but not so differently that it's a problem

Yes leave in conditioner is the best thing that has ever happened to my hair and some high porosity girls advice against it but it’s best for my hair

Sometimes I use my hair steamer to steam my moisturizers into my hair. It does work, however it works so well I can't create a gel cast. Even the freakin gel evaporates onto my strands lol. I had to learn to let my hair cool down before applying gel. So be careful if you want a popping wash and go.♥️

1:34 Yes it does. The cuticles raise and lower just like other hair types of hair. all hair have the same biology. they all have shingles like a roof and when it's hot water it opens and cold water it closes.

I was here for the hair. But then I saw the lip! You can't do that lip and not spill the tea in the description bar. What's on the lips? Please do tell. Thank you for the hair tips!

Hi Achia, you mentioned that there were two videos you would link that would provide a more in-depth understanding of moisture. I checked the description box but I didn't see them. Do you mind providing those links?

Please provide the tips for super high porosity hair. I believe I am struggling with hair that is too porous. It will dry within 2 hours even with dealing with heavy butter and oils.

My hair is the same way. I recommend Qhemet Biologics Amla Heavy Cream, Curls and Potions & Keracare also have good products for dry high porosity hair.

Define medium porosity? and why is it normal?
@jeanninegorden8142
@jeanninegorden8142 2 жыл бұрын
@@ALove4Me from many other YT videos and maybe 1 Googled article, my understanding is that medium porosity means the cuticle is not opened excessively like high porosity and not closed like low porosity. It's "just right", like the porridge Goldilocks wanted!! Those with medium porosity have hair that retains moisture well, products absorb well, and they don't experience the challenges LP and HP experience on their ends of the spectrum. (And I just realized my comment says How instead of Hey. Lemme edit that. I'm def not yelling at you or being snarky. I'm a newer natural and I'm still learning.)
@Hizwife
@Hizwife 2 жыл бұрын
@@jeanninegorden8142 That's exactly what I got from it too. I have medium porosity and I have no issues with any product absorbing into my hair, nor do I have any issues with the moisture staying in my hair for a long period of time.

Everyone talks about porosity, I've done the test on several occasions and it comes out as low but it doesn't take long to dry. My question is do you know how I can accurately test my porosity? Oh by the way I have Salt & Pepper Natural hair. Thank and great video.
@denyshadials5702
@denyshadials5702 2 жыл бұрын
There is no accurate way to test it because it’s on a spectrum. It’s more appropriately referred to as low(er) porosity or high(er) porosity because it has to be relative to something. As much as people use it to describe their hair, most do so inaccurately. So I wouldn’t worry about it unless you just wanted explore it for yourself, which is fine.

Run your fingers through one strand see if you feel lumps. Thats what my stylist did when they were doing my hair I thought I was low but i was really high When they did my hair it came very nice.

Everyone always says you have to know your porosity in order to maintain your hair and that's why I wanted to know but if its not as important than I don't care. Just want healthy hair.

This is the best test I've done on mine so far. 1. Shampoo or Clarify with a clarifier or something. 2. Don't apply conditioner. Allow your hair to air dry. 3. Note the amount of time it takes to dry. High will dry within 30 min-1 hour. Normal is between 2-4 hours. Low is between 7-24 hours. It's normal to have many porosities on your hair. Let's know your result when you do so.

@@dorethamcelliott4900 the most when choosing your products are; 1. Your climate or weather 2. Style of Choice 3. Hair Density 4. Curl Pattern These are more important than porosity.
