DryBell Vibe Machine V3
The Vibe Machine is based on the classic late 60s UniVibe, with a unique photo cell cirquit designed to fit into the smaller, pedalboard friendly casing. This 10th anniversary edition is very similar to the V1 and V2, with the same features and overall tone but the V3 is tweaked for a slightly more transparent modulation. Check out my reviews of the V1 and V2 here:

I had the v2 a while back. I felt like I could never quite get exactly what I wanted from it. Sounds weird cause there are so many knobs to tweak but I think that’s what I struggled with. Still my 2nd favorite vibe I’ve ever tried only behind the moon vibe

Hi Bjorn, I hop this finds you well.. Thank you so much for producing and sharing these videos. They’re Awesome, and although I’ve been playing for many years I had an injury that required me to learn most things in life all over again. My guitar playing was no exception. I’ve had to approach the instrument all over again, and your sharing has really made a difference in the quality of my life. Thank you!!!

Good for you getting back on that horse! Lesser men would give up. I tore ligaments in my fret wrist and had it scoped in 5 places. Its never been the same even after 25 years. But you keep pushing on. What you lose in dexterity you make up for in technique. What you lose in stamina you make up for in note placement. But you never lose that drive to keep pushing.

Found your videos in the recent weeks after a massive pedalboard built trying to have presets for multiple artists that I’ve loved all my 40 years of listening and playing Rock music! Can’t thank you enough for all the videos you’ve put all these years about Mr David Gilmore and the Pink Floyd. BTW! I found myself ordering the Vibe V3 in the middle of watching this video, knowing how great they are at building good quality pedals!

Always great playing & tones. It's a good Vibe. I own the v1. It's more-of-a phasey-vibe, which sounds great for Gilmour. If you want Real-Throb "ala" Robin Trower or Hendrix . . . check out the Shiftee Vibe. That thing is Phenomenal. Deep Hypnotic underwater, pulsating, liquid Throb !!!

Hey Bjorn, nice video. I have a little request (if you have the time for it). Could you make a video on how Gilmour uses the Vibrato System (or Tremolo as most people call it 🤦‍♂️)? Because those vintage vibrato systems aren’t really known for staying in tune but Gilmour can use them so effortlessly.
@gilmourishofficial
@gilmourishofficial 2 жыл бұрын
I'll put it on the to do list :) It's all about the setup. You can abuse that thing pretty hard without the guitar getting out of tune, with the right setup.

Overdrive: gain 12:00, volume 2:00, shape 3:00, tone 12:00. Boost: range 3:00, level 12:00, treble and bass 12:00. The boost is going into the front of the overdrive. These settings are matched to my Laney Lionheart.

@@gilmourishofficial Interesting. I use almost the same settings with my Victory V40 and it sounds great with humbuckers or single coils (with some tweaking). Sometimes I prefer the overdrive into the boost though for a more focused rock tone.

I wanted a uni-vibe, so I searched Amazon. I saw one on sale for 30 bucks by a company called Kokko, who I saw sell many different inexpensive effects pedals. I figured, even if it doesn't sound great, it's only 30 dollars. But it sounds amazing! Great tones from that little guy. I did a recent search for it, and now it's around 45 dollars. Still, it's a great value for a great sounding pedal.

Hi Bjorn , could you tell us whether you use FX loop in an amplifier for modulation pedal or you use front input and clean channel ?
@gilmourishofficial
@gilmourishofficial 2 жыл бұрын
Front on a clean amp.
@konstantin7869
@konstantin7869 2 жыл бұрын
@@gilmourishofficial got it, thanks. The reason why I asked I use FX loop. A lot of excellent modulation pedals, which you've shown to us, don't work in FX loop due to over-amplitude after pre-amp. That is why I have to use digital pedals like Boss only. So, it would be great if you could create explanation video how David uses amps/pedals.
@gilmourishofficial
@gilmourishofficial 2 жыл бұрын
@@konstantin7869 I'll put that on the to do list. His setups are described in detail on my site gilmourish.com. He's always relied on clean Hiwatts and Fenders (mostly) and use pedals for dirt and colouring. Hendrix, who inspired David's in the early days, would also run his pedals into the front but into an overdriven amp for more saturation. Modern amps allow an effects loop but it depends on what tones you're looking for.

Hi Bjorn! Well done as always! I'm not surprised this is a good sounding unit. It's not a coincidence that the V2 is my vibe unit. Maybe I'll compare them in the future to see if it's worth upgrading. I'm not fixated with sticking to the original stuff, when an upgrade makes a pedal better, I go for the upgrade, so this might be the case. Thanks for the review! Cheers from Italy

I have tried for a long time to convince myself I like univibes but the reality is I don't. I like phasers (a lot), harmonic trems (more than a lot) but the vibe is not for me. This however sounds killer (in your hands).
@gilmourishofficial
@gilmourishofficial 2 жыл бұрын
I guess it’s a matter of taste but to me the UniVibe is a much more distinct effect. It’s instantly Hendrix/Dark Side, while phasers and harmonic trems are more subtle in a way and more versatile. My favourite for years is the Dunlop Rotovibe, which is right in the middle of a UniVibe and phase 90.
