This right here is what aviation is about. Such romanticized activities are almost like those out of a movie, but they actually fucking happened. So awesome, especially the X-15.

The Bell X-5 Swing wing system came out form the Messerchmitt P-1101 wich aircraft never flown.

The prototype of the P-1101 had wings that could be adjusted for various angles while it was on the ground. This was for test purposes only and was never intended for the production versions.

Interesting video. 👍👍 The last 20 years at Dryden seems to have been taken over by the CRT/DIE ideology. This policy means relying on modelling and ground control of flights rather than human piloting and observations. No great leap forwards! The results are glaringly obvious in the drawn out Artemis space launch program started in 2010 yet by 2022 without any launch of the full package. My generation put a man on the moon in less than 10 years and Artemis is not using any startlingly new technology that wasn't applied to the Apollo or Space Shuttle programs.

Lots of silly bits in the video, The Bell X-1 mach meter only went up to 1.0 , the images before this had nothing to do with anything and this is in the first minute..It continued like that, but I enjoyed it.

Who is the idiot who thought showing a 50cal _cartridge_ was appropriate when talking about the 50cal _bullet_ as the X-1's shape? They _completely_ ruined the presentation! Anyone who didn't already know what that was all about couldn't see the obvious; half that boat tail bullet was hidden in the case! That was worse than confusing; that was just STUPID!

authors (since they are americans, no wonder) forgot that they technology got 'shared' by brits, and americans carried that on. Shared is a big word here, since americans never shared back anything! (so usual).
