Today I do a thorough cleaning of the lint trap of our dryer with no need to take off the screws! Below the normal lint trap opening, I found almost 4 cups of fluff waiting to be cleaned out (yikes).

So do I. It's a great tool for cleaning multiple appliances. The refrigerator is one. People forget to clean their refrigerator vents and water tray underneath; stagnant filthy stinky water.

All you need is a screwdriver and a flashlight to remove 3 screws. YOU CAN DO IT! Just be sure to put it back together correctly. If unsure, take a few photos along the way. YES WE CAN! SI SE PUEDE! ♥️

It's 3 types of fasteners, closer to 8 in total unless there are additional hidden ones, and it still doesn't want to move as I'm attempting to take it apart for cleaning. Plus some electrical cables for temp/dryness sensing. So no, it's a little more than a random screwdriver. This is how we end up on these videos people.

I use my Norwex celing fan duster. It is flexable and goes deep into the dryer. You can also attach it to the mop handle to extend it for long reaches as the corners of the ceiling etc.

There are long-handled brushes made for this exact task. Also, some vacuums have “flat” extension wands for this. 🙂

You can also get a piece of a PVC pipe and bend it to be flat enough to get through that opening by heating it up with a heat gun. Then, attach it to your vacuum and clean it out.

Awesome ideas/tips, me and my wife have been running a cleaning business for about 8 years now, we always clean the lint trap but would never go as far as removing the housing. Your channel is great and I'm still learning although I prefer carpet washing (revenue vs physical exertion). At 51 I'm finding especially the moveout cleanings to be exhausting, however, now and again it's amazing the stuff you can get from customers that offer....take it or throw it away. Crazy the stuff we've gotten, cheers.

I pulled the lint trap housing out of mine to make it easier to get all the lint out -- there was lint I couldn't have gotten out otherwise. It's easy to remove. On mine, there are four screws on the inside of the dryer that attach the housing to the dryer. Once I removed them, it pulled right out! I also washed it and the lint screen by rinsing them with a sprayer to remove all of the lint that was trapped in the tiny crevices. I let them air dry and then put them back in.

I tried my sink drain stick, hmmm it goes down but gets stuck a bit on the way out but I got a little bit but was a bit worried about getting it stuck inside.

I use a straw brush cleaner. It's about 18 inches long and made of firm but flexible wire with your traditional bottle cleaner bristles. The bristles are short but because they are spaced about 1 cm apart it works the absolute best and I can reach really far down and it can be bent into any shape I want it in and it holds that shape until I straighten it. Aannnnnd if I need it to go in farther to really reach in there I can duct tape it to the end of my extendable swiffer duster handle and get about another 8 inches. I could probably go further but I don't because at that point I run the risk of unknowinyly compacting something as I blindly poke around; or worse, accidentally puncture something. Once a year I pull the dryer out and unhook the vent hose and hit it from the other side as well as run a full dyson vacuum hose attached to another 2 separate 8 ft car detailing hoses all the way through to where it exits outside of my house. I am not super finicky with that but I do want to make sure there is a clear path and that the screen at the exit point is free and clear from anything that might block air flow. I do recommend hiring someone to this annually or finding away to do it yourself yearly because it can be a fire hazzard but also, if drying times appear to be slower than they used to be, lint is most likely the culprit and anytime the dryer is working longer or harder, the higher your electricity bill will be. Cleaning those hoses and vents are such a crutial part yet easily overlooked aspect of annual home maintenance. I group my vent/hose cleaning with our annual furnace maintenance so that I don't forget about it and it gives me something to do while the pros are here doing the furnace. If you're lucky sometimes the HBAC pros might even vacuum your dryer hose and vent for you at no additional cost and umm, if it's free it's for me. 😁

I am thinking of trying a cut soft garden hose duct taped to my shop vacuum. Then vacuum from the dryer then next through the dryer duct.

I have a yardstick with with sewed on felt around it I use it for cleaning under oven. You gave me idea I can try in my dryer. I like that I can take felt off my yardstick and wash it.

You can also get double sided sticky tape and wrap it around a fly swatter . Im afraid if the the swiffer or cloth gets stuck in the crack how could I get it out?

What about the foil lint trap behind the dryer? It's not going to do well if you only clean out the front vent. Also. I have a LONG tube that attached to my vacuum and it gets ALL the lint out of both areas. Please respond. Thank you.

My condo had vent cleaning guys, who came out and cleaned inside and outside, yesterday. But, I have a tool, that you put inside that same area, as you did. It pulls it right out.

Does anyone clean the outside of the dryer where it blows out? I have a long brush just for that. WOW, the first couple times I did that I was so surprised. But the whoever lived here before us, I have no idea if they cleaned out the dryer hose.

Andrea, Liking the Microfiber wrapped Fly Swatter, good thinking. If you want to try something that really cleans deep down inside the Dryer look into a device called the Vaccuflex. It attaches to your Vacuum Cleaner and comes with three flexible hoses as well as a small diameter solid tube. I use it on the Dryer, the Refigerator Coils, as well as the cars in my household. It works fantastic.

Even using a back scratcher wrapped up with the towel could also work. Longer handle. And after getting all the extra lint out, put it outside so the birds and animals can take it and use it in their homes/nests to keep themselves and their babies warm.

There is a crevice tool attachment that most vacuum cleaners come with that most likely will fit into that narrow space.

@@thomascraftiii740 The best solution is to remove the front bottom panel of the dryer and then remove the blower front cover. This will give you access to all the lint. Only a few screws need to be removed to do this.

You likely have no idea how much lint and dryer sheets are trapped in a metal bowl like part under lint catcher screen. I replaced the drum rollers on the front of my dryer is how I found all this mess. I too always clean my lint screen after each load. Lint and dryer sheets were also in the inside of the small blower cage. Anyone know how this happened?

smartest route since it would probably take longer then an hour. the entire damn dryer has to come apart to get that out, but would eventually get it apart to clean the inside. it can eventually clog the exhaust

Amazon sells a brush on a long twisted wire with a wooden handle. I use it to clean vent trap outside and my fridge motor as well, and dryer vent on dryer. Nifty gadget.

Great video! Love the fly swatter hack - going to try it! Whoever designed the lint traps on these dryers should be taken out and beaten - absolutely horrible! It took me 2.5 hours to dry a load of towels last night, and I know it's because I can't get all of the lint out of the trap. 😡😡😡

We clean the lint trap EVERY time too. That lint down under the lint trap is a dryer fire waiting to happen. This poor design makes me so angry.

Pro Tip: get in the habit of cleaning out the lint trap every single time you put a load in the dryer. Then you won't have all that extra lint beneath the lint trap. Ask a fireman about dryer fires.....caused from overflowing lint traps.

Same model, my wife cleans the pull out trap every time but inside the housing is covered with lint and the bottom of the housing is covered with lint, so, I don’t think just cleaning the removable part is enough, not near enough.

I'm 13, my mom has never cleaner the washer, dryer, dryer vent, etcetera. She refused to believe that the washer and dryer are a problem (that lint trap area has an inch of fur, lint, plastic pieces, etc inside, and the washer is slimy and smells bad) and I know she won't get to rhe dryer vent. I guess it's just frustrating knowing that there are problems that she won't help me with. I just feel like I shouldn't be doing it alone, it's been a problem since I was little but only now do I know I really need to get a handle on it. There are also other problems, like with hoarding and stuff, but she won't let me get near it because it's her stuff. She has piles of newspapers and such.
