Dryer Runs But Does Not Heat. I replaced the Heat Element and it burned out again after 6 months. In this video you will learn how to properly diagnose & fix a dryer that does not heat.
I fixed this dryer about 6 months ago and it worked fine but quit heating again recently. This time I went through the proper process to fix any and all thermostats, fuses and even cleaned out the dryer duct work and the whole project takes only about 45 minutes and cost only $27.
After watching this video you should be able to properly fix an electric dryer that does not heat and make it run like new.
The homeowner says the dryer is running great now and dries the clothes 40% faster than before...

Does it still work? I did the same. Worked for about a week/week and a half and then stopped heating. I sent it back and got a new heating element. Same thing. Worked fine for about a week and then stopped again. The path is clean. No blockage. I don't want to spend $500 on a repair tech.

Super video! I especially like how you clearly showed and identified each component. One other tip: While you have the dryer vent line disconnected, clean out the line from the wall to the exterior wall/roof of the building. Amazon has kits that interface with a drill, and you can hook up a wet/dray vac to blow/suck the line out. Keeping that line clean will help preserve the heating element.

Thank you. This was EXTREMELY helpful. I had already replaced the heating element and it worked for a few hours then stopped working again (no heat). From this video I discovered the blower vent was super clogged with lint (way worse than your video) so I cleaned it out. I put a multimeter on the limit switches (t-stats) and one of them is bad. $7 to fix

I think if a new heating element burns out after a few months from it being installed there is not enough air flow being pulled through the heating element and it could be the main felt seal around the tub that holds the clothes, if that seal is not tight the fan will pull air though there rather than the heating element chamber. If there is not enough air being pulled through the element the on/off heat sensor will read cold and keep the heating element on until it gets to hot and burns itself out because of little air flow. The sensor in the back of the heating element won't work too because little hot air is going through. Replacing the on/off heat element might not do the trick and it will burn up another heating element in a few months. Symptoms of low air flow though the heating element is the dryer just doesn't dry as good as when it was new. If the on/off heat sensor wasn't working it shouldn't be burning up heating elements, low air flow burns them up from clogs or bad seals. These dryers are designed perfectly to slowly get weaker over the years, then you spend money on them for people that like to fix stuff or just go out and buy a new one.

We replaced all the thermostats and heating element 2 months ago. Had heat until last night. I will clean the duct work and see if that helps. Thanks for the great video. How often do you find vids of the same dryer youre working on?

I have a real odd heating problem with my Kenmore when I have it on timed dry for 60 minutes. It's like it's in cool down mode until it gets to the end of the cycle and then gets really hot and won't stop on it's own. I've replaced the heating element, the thermostat, the cycling thermostat, the thermal fuse and the door switch. Nothing has changed! it's driving me crazy! Any help or tips on fixing the issue please?

I have a question, I changed my heating element out. And as soon as I turn my dryer on it gets hot real quick and I notice the glow on the inside after only letting it run for less than a minute. Plus there’s a burning smell. Is that normal?

If I understand what you’re explaining that can be normal. The new smell burns off the coil and then that will go away

My clothes dryer is about 20 years old. I changed the heating element. It was burned like the one in the video. The dryer comes on and does heat up. BUT, I am sort of afraid of it because of the age. After watching the video, I am going to take the other cover off, clean the lint out and change the thermo-couple. MY HUSBAND says, TRASH it, buy a new one. I am for saving money. Plus I do like fixing things. IS IT WORTH buying the parts in the video, and use it until the motor goes?
