We bottled our final milk of the season, and began drying off our cows.
Clover Mountain dairy is a small certified organic farm located an hour north of Spokane in Northeast Washington state. We milk jersey cows.

You and the ladies produce such very rich and creamy milk. That little bit of uneven filling of the bottles simply adds to the hands-on style of your product. May need to put a wing on the machine shed for tool storage. Thanks for the look-see around your little piece of heaven.

Stacy you are very skilled mechanically. Have seen you rebuild and build your entire operation. I know you will do great in school. Looking forward to seeing you take apart an engine and rebuild it. When are the cows due to calve again?

Might want to watch how much alfalfa you feed the dry cows for you do not have as much of a chance of them getting milk fever when they freshen. Glad school is going good.
@vnthomas16
@vnthomas16 Жыл бұрын
You’re absolutely correct…! Alfalfa is high in calcium and avoiding it can minimize the chance of milk fever. This particular dry period is abnormally long because we’re devoting some extra time towards the community creamery project, so the alfalfa will be long gone and they’ll have been just on pasture for some time before they’re close up and we start freshening. Thanks for watching!

what size sled was that? the otter small, medium, or large?
@vnthomas16

I think ours is a small. It fits a 75# bale of hay but fits through a 30” door.

What are your thoughts on raw milk?
@vnthomas16
@vnthomas16 Жыл бұрын
We support farmers who want to sell raw milk, and we support consumers who want to buy raw milk. We expect customers to do their due diligence and learn about the farm they want to get their milk from (consumers should learn where all their food comes from, but that’s a different discussion). We choose not to sell raw milk because we don’t want the liability to our farm, and the lower temperature vat pasteurizing we do allows us to do additional value-added products like flavored milks, yogurts, and fresh cheeses.
