You’re an awesome person, this was probably the most wholesome and genuine and educational videos I’ve ever watched. It was a breeze to watch all the way through, even though it was an hour long. Breath of fresh air content wise on KZfaq in years, unlike all of the 1 minute shorts and 10min videos on here.

Excellent video! It was helpful to see problems and troubleshooting. One idea that might help with working from a reversed image would be to scan the proof, reverse it in an image editor, then print it with your printer. Thanks for taking the time to make such an informative video!

This video is monumentally detailed and entertaining at the same time. That's not an easy feat to achieve. It's not an accident that most printmakers love everything about print making, except printing. That's why the big shot print artists send their work away to an atelier to have the work printed. For the rest of us, we just have to put up with the frustration, but also the elation when you pull a great print. Thank you to the generous donor who made this video happen.

Hi I'm an intermediate printmaker and have been taught in a university and the local studio setting. I have to say your introduction to drypoint and printing at home is very concise and enjoyable to watch. I've done a variety of techniques in regards to intaglio but never drypoint work so this video was a great visual and informative of how the bur works and more importantly the degradation of it over time! Thanks again, definitely subscribing.

The only thing I would say, because you hit everything really well, with great enthusiasm, is an A.P. is a preparatory state of the print, before it is considered a finished work; which is why there is only print in that particular state of the printing process. It is a proof for the artist, i.e., A.P. And it is kept as a test piece for further development. Sometimes sold for a lower price than a finished piece.

This might sound terrible, but being an art student that is learning this technique I was so glad to see you mess up so many times 😂 That's been exactly my experience so far. Also it was nice seeing the small differences from your workplace to my college's ✨

Not terrible at all!! Intaglio was sooooo frustrating to me at first and I really thought it was because I was just bad at it. Even the most experienced printmaker has to constantly troubleshoot! -Prof Lieu

Learned a lot...for example, I am way too lazy for this. I do block printing with the Speedball rubber sheets, using multiple colors painted onto the block, which makes every print unique, but that's my limit. Fantastic video.

You could always take a photo of the first state and reverse it in the phone! That's one way to make it less dizzying... Fabulous stuff - I knew so little about printmaking before but feel like I could do it now if I had the supplies! :D

Hello! Thank you for taking time to make, edit and release these videos! A quick question, what thickness is ideal for the copper plate? Thank you!
@artprof
@artprof 3 ай бұрын
I totally can't remember the exact number, but any copper plate you buy from a printmaking company (McClain's, Graphic Chemical, and Renaissance Graphic Arts are all good) will be the correct gauge. -Prof Lieu

Clara, this was amazing! Thanks so much for this, going through the process in so much detail. As a novice printmaker, I appreciate the amount of work it takes. I could relate to your frustration or giddyness after observing the result of the print. I appreciated your brief explanation about signing editions. I would love to know more about this: it is hard to find info on the many signatures and many types of editions there are. I have so many questions about what makes an edition: is using a different paper a new edition? A different colour? So many questions! Thanks again for all the effort put into this video. Great shots and edition 📸 -it takes lots of work BTS and it deserves to be appreciated 👍👍👍👍

Yes, using a different paper or a different colour would be a different edition.
