You had me at ribbed texture 🤤

I forgot to mention the reason for that. The material is ribbed for your pleasure.

Could you discuss how the under garments affect buoyancy; which ones are the least buoyant so you don’t have to add weight to compensate

A quick summary is - airspace is buoyant and warm. The fluffier the garment the more air it'll hold and the warmer it is. The additional important factors are wicking abilities and smell mitigation. Older "X00 gram" jumpsuits are super fluffy and hold a lot of air but they're terrible at wicking moisture and smell bad quickly. The more layers the more air they hold and ultimately the more buoyancy.

How does the J2 Base layer fit, compared to FE's size chart? I bought a size Large FE Thermocline vest, based upon their size chart, and had to return it for the Extra Large.

The thermocline are notorious for being a poor fit - it's still a great product though. I haven't had that problem with the j2, it's true to size for me.

Great information! I just subscribed. I'm guessing the J2 would be used as a top and legging combination (I could not find a J2 in one-piece)? I'm new to Drysuit diving, and purchasing a new Water Proof D7X Drysuit. Any thermal suggestions for 50F to 55F temperature water (now in central North Carolina fresh water)? With regards to the Waterproof Body 2X thermal layer, do you suggest using tops and leggings versus one-piece (Waterproof Body 2X) for my application? Thank you!

The d7x is a great choice - I used one for the past few years. I like top/bottom combos over jumpsuits for my indergearments because they give you move mobility - regardless the j2 is only available as top/bottom. It depends on the length of your dives but j2+body2x would work for me for short duration diving in those temperatures. I'd add a xerotherm top (or heat), a 8mm hood and some nice thick gloves to the mix too.

@@BarefootBentley , awesome, thanks! I’m also looking at the Water Proof D7-Evo, but not sure if the new proprietary dry-glove system will be an issue for compatibility of gloves.

@rays9033 I saw that suit recently and I'm probably going to get one. WP is great at supporting their products all the way around.

@@BarefootBentley nice! I read the new D7 Evo Flexlock dry-glove system will require a special Water Proof Ultima Twist version to use dry-gloves, and unfortunately it will not be available until “2024”, which I hope is early in 2024! I emailed Water Proof’s Support team to hopefully get an idea when Flexlock will be available. I also hope the D7 Evo drysuit is NOT a lot more bulky and heavy than the D7-X.
