thank you so much for this vid! this clears up all my doubts. Have been waiting for it patiently! does the connector hose comes with the solo analyzer or is it a separate purchase ?
@BarefootBentley
@BarefootBentley 4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion and I'm happy I could help. The solo comes with a dome flow limiter (which I don't like). Everything else is an extra accessory. I suggest adding on the pro flow limiter, low pressure inflator flow limiter and connector hose (3 separate SKUs) to make the kit complete. If you're in Florida give me a shout and I can connect you with all those items directly.

Can you make a video on replacing the big red oring on the water trap and headset?
@BarefootBentley
@BarefootBentley 12 күн бұрын
That'd be easier in person or even on a video call. They're a bit tricky to put back. I recommend that divers do not remove those seals. They're replaced during a factory annual service, but they don't need to be removed outside of that. You can clean around them with a lint-free swab. If you took them out and need a hand replacing them you should contact a factory-authorized service tech like me, or dive rite directly.

do you need the connection hose to connect the inflator hose limiter to the solo? would appreciate if you could show us how you do the connections. thanks
@BarefootBentley
@BarefootBentley 17 күн бұрын
Yes, you need the connector hose for the low pressure inflator and the pro limiter connectors. I'll try and toss a quick short together for the connections. I have a complete kit I suggest for first-time buyers if you want more info.

Awesome! You definitely need to calibrate it before use. That gives the analyzer a known value/baseline from which to interpolate.

How does the J2 Base layer fit, compared to FE's size chart? I bought a size Large FE Thermocline vest, based upon their size chart, and had to return it for the Extra Large.
@BarefootBentley
@BarefootBentley Ай бұрын
The thermocline are notorious for being a poor fit - it's still a great product though. I haven't had that problem with the j2, it's true to size for me.

Well. I've learned a new word today. "Loonie"... Thanks for that. Very similar to my SAD, but I have spare wrist seals and gloves for my dry gloves in mine. It's cold here in the UK... 😊

That weird little critter is a salp (if you care.) They link up and form long chains out here, we see them on our blackwater dives. We call that a "colonial salp".

Well said. Don't underestimate it. I've started maintaining my own regs since two years since I'm a tech diver and I wasn't always happy with the quality of service for the price at my nearby dive shops. I also felt it was important to learn and understand how my regs work, now that I'm doing dives where I depend on them working well. But it does take time and attention to do it properly. Some finicky parts require careful work. And you'll need plenty of tools so the initial cost is quite high. Of course, you can amortize that over many years.

I'm a new dry suit diver and have a question about running the hose from the condom to the pee valve. I'm wearing multiple layers; base, and insulated. These layers don't have fly or zipper openings. Have you had to cut holes to route the plumbing through this setup? If so, where would you recommend making those holes. Thanks for the video, very informative.
@BarefootBentley
@BarefootBentley Ай бұрын
If your undies don't have holes you'll have to make them. Mid thigh is the typical spot and then run the plumbing up from there. Some people prefer a direct connection (cut the plumbing short enough to meet the cath on your thigh) while other route the plumbing in a big loop and their cath up on their body. However you do it, make sure to reduce the chance of hose kinking - that's bad.
