Yep! That seems like the perfect idea. Once that chain breaks, it can really do some damage. Maybe it will not just be a flesh wound but you might be able to cut through bones and skull... Nice hack!!!

Bad idea for a couple reasons. First the driving mechanism in your weedeater is not gonna be strong enough for that to last - which in reality is a good thing because if it ever did last for any length of time eventually those chains will fail and when they do they will potentially do a lot of damage to whatever they hit - including you or your neighbor. Having a really light string addresses that by not being able to store much kinetic energy. Cool idea, but I'd chalk it up to experience before someone gets hurt.

Need to check time to time chain is in order . Otherwise make a fatal disaster.possibility of loosing your leg bones

They had something like that over here in the states but it was discontinued many years ago. I've been wanting to do one but use chainsaw chain. Mainly to be light and thin. It makes clearing fence rows quick.

Из всего что пробовал лучший вариант это сегменты прикученные к трмерному диску, но опять же они работают только на большой жёсткой траве, для мелкой и мягкой лучше использовать леску

if your center plate was the same thickness as the chain you could have drilled a hole thru and connected the chain with a master link. still dont know how much id trust it but be a hell of a lot stronger than that tiny machine screw

That rotating shaft will soon be wobbling because the chain can't flex up and down, causing bushing or bearing failure. Still a great idea, just have to figure what alternative can be used as the "blades"...

Не безопасно! Нужно что бы каждая цепь крепилась к диску обоими концами. Цепь одновременно не оторвется с двух точек крепления, одно да и уцелеет.

I did this works great I tried 4 chains but they are to close together the weeds don’t feed in to well so I dropped down to just 2 chains works really well

I can't read 90% of the comments but I'm guessing they say "RUN!! RUN AWAY FAST!!!" Your putting a lot of faith in 2 - 5/32 in. maybe grade 2 machine screws with no supporting top plate. If I were to attempt building such a dangerous contraption, I would use a second plate on top and hardened steel dowel pins. Hmmmm... me thinks it's time to head for the work shop. Heck, feet are over rated anyway. j/k

Es una muy buena idea, solo que la cadena segurarla mas con eslabon de union de fabrica o soldarla. Pero fu ciona muy bien y es muy fuerte psrs pasto grueso y pasto seco. Mis felicitaciones. Saludos desde Chile.
