Glen Campbell sings “Jesus and Me" for his church family

On New years Eve, 1989, Glen Campbell sang in his church's Evening Service, and introduced a new song, "Jesus and Me." I directed this live for Phoenix LPTV station Channel 39. This is a great video to see Glen talk about his spiritual life.

I was there. What a blessing. Boy do I miss that church and Pastor Jackson. Pastor Jackson always preached the Gospel and gave an invitation. I have seen services where 50 people walked the aisle to give their hearts to Jesus.

On Thursday, February 9th, my step-father planted 6 rose plants during the day. While relaxing with friends that afternoon, one of them mentioned that he husband had passed in his sleep. My step-father said that was how he prayed he would go. In his sleep, no pain or suffering. That night, at 1:00 Friday morning, his prayer was answered. He was 73 years old. They lived in Phoenix. My mother still does. Maybe Phoenix extra prayer amplifying power :)

I first heard this song when I was 16 years old when I gave my life to the Lord. Well, 22 years later I've found in good and bad times I can still hear the words "making music for Jesus my king" and it always helps to re-center my focus back on God.

I fell in love with Glen Campbell, before I even knew his face, I listened to him on the Billboard 100, when he was still part of a group and sang in falcete, until my brother ordered one solo album by Glen Campbell, and the first time I saw his face I actually didn't think he was pretty but I was completely in love with his music, and my brother always bought his imported records, and more and more I fell in love, today he is no longer here, but for me he will never cease to exist

I completely agree.... I prefer this version to the CD version quite a bit. There are quite a few clips on here of him with huge orchestras, it is just great to hear the clarity of his voice live. Just him and his guitar!

In my 35 year (lol so far) as a camera engineer, he is one of the few people I did not get to work with...and he was my hero growing up as a budding guitarist. It was so painful to watch him lose memory.

@mikemacjunkie1 Well, since you brought it up ... an elderly lady in our church was diagnosed with Alzheimers several yrs ago. We laid hand on her and prayed and she lived for two or more years, clearheaded, active and went to her reward quite peacably. The power of prayer REALLY does work for those who take it (and Jesus) seriously.

I will never forget for as long as I live on this planet how one day Glen played this song on my radio as I was cooking 17 years ago in Georgetown DC so I dropped the cooking business like a bad habit and zoomed to the closest record store on M Street bought this album on CD and I still play it every single time I feel the blues Oh how I hope you’ll love it too so just listen to it until you can sing along and you’ll see exactly what I mean

As others have said, as a Christian I am filled with Joy at Glenn's testimony. I as well have been a fan since the 1960's with "By The Time I Get To Phoenix", "Wichita Lineman" and the wonderful "Southern Nights" and others. Many people don't know that Glenn was a guitarist/stand-in for The Beach Boys during their prime both in the studio and Live. His version of Steve Amerson's "Come Harvest Time" is so Beautiful, Spiritual and Heartfelt that it brings tears, check it out here on KZfaq. God Bless Everyone and Happy New Year 2015

I read a story about a circuit preacher down in the south who prayed for a county to receive rain because all the fields were burning up. He had so much faith, that he descended off the pulpit, walked down the center aisle outside to where his horse was tethered, removed the saddle and safely stowed it on the veranda to keep it from getting wet.
