Today we replace the battery in a 2016 Ducati Monster 1200s Here are some tools I use, 10mm bendy boy: amzn.to/3VUIJKb
Same Brand - same size battery as original: amzn.to/42FeQQk (double check your own battery first though)

I agree to some degree, but making videos is also a business. Maybe by attracting more viewers, maybe by attracting more sponsors. The degree I do agree with is that his choice for content was not purely for entertainment but for making educational content as well. All the while other content creators simply dance in front of a phone with little to no clothes on.

This reminds me of a Chrysler car that I bought for my nephew. He needed a new battery but in order to get to the battery, we had to use a Jack, take off the driver's side front tire in order to get to the battery. Ridiculous location. Very informative video. Thanks Zack!!

My parents had that car! Well, it was a Plymouth Breeze, but same car. It was indeed an incredibly stupid place for the battery. Who puts a battery in the wheel well?! Chrysler, I guess. I've had cars where the battery was under the hood as expected, I've had a car where the battery was under the rear seats, my current car has the battery in the back. But in the wheel well was by far the dumbest place I've seen a battery.

Pro tip, if you don't ride that often, get lithium battery. They are a bit more expensive but they don't require constant tending and can last longer if you don't ride that often. Minus is that they require warm up with headlight on colder day and have half of capacity (for same power).

@@f-godz3342 From what I heard (a youtube example would be Snowcat and his Hypermotard) or a neighbour with his v4, Ducatis tend to have electric problems and very high fix & maintenance costs. Technically any bike would start up after two years with a fuel and battery swap, assuming the tank and lines aren't corroded. But you just generally have less issues and costs with a Japanese bike

Ride em off before you write them off 😉. I have a 2013 Monster 796 w/9k miles that I found for $4k and no issues on it besides the 7k miles service intervals, which is a relatively older models . The newer ones require them at 18k miles now. You'd have a good case for reliability and maintenance concerns with older Ducati's; with the newer ones, they're on par with the Japanese bikes. Maintenance is the same as my Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe. Lube the chains, fork oils, brake oils, tires, consumables, etc... They're just different bikes, most Japanese bikes are really smooth and precision and Ducati's are perfectly imperfect after trying them out. Really monstrous sometimes lol.

@@hyedefinition1080 yeah but how expensive are your services? My cb500f costs me about 250-500€ depending on which service it is, chain timing belt service is around 800 from what I heard. The short story behind the story = Ducati aims to prevent bike owners from performing maintenance, leading to reliance on Ducati workshops, fostering a community and preserving high resale value. However, the reality is that bike owners in the US and UK prefer DIY maintenance, resulting in clashes shown in numerous Ducati HOW TO videos on KZfaq.

I have a 2020 821 that has the same battery location. I didn't disconnect the ground and my wrench did contact the frame and it did spark and it scared the shit out of me. I sent the heated grips back to revzilla because warm hands aren't worth electrocution, then I went to CycleGear and bought the warmest gloves they have. I WISH you had this video up when I was trying to take out the battery, it would have saved me some of the frustration. For the viewers watching this who do not have one of these bikes, it is NOT that easy to take the battery out, there are a whole lot more things you have to get through to drop the battery. Ducati says they keep the battery down there to lower the center of mass and give it improved handling. I want to believe them but their Panigales and Streetfighters which should maximize handling have the battery in front of the gas cap so I think it's a packaging problem.

This makes me think of changing out a lightbulb on my parents 2008 suburban. The correct way to do it would to have been to remove the inner fender liner, remove the windshield wiper fluid reservoir, and fully remove the headlight housing. Took over an hour to do it with just breaking out my dad’s and I’s knuckles fishing a new headlight bulb in. My 2005 Silverado, you literally twist the headlight out, pop it out of the socket, put a new one in, and twist it back in. It takes longer to open the door, pull the latch, and open the hood than it does to actually change out the headlight.
