Ducati NYC Vlog

3 жыл бұрын

When I was buying this bike 7 years ago with only 1,400 miles on it (and only having my moto license for a week) little did I know it will become such a huge part of my life. Through thick and thin, I love this bike. In this video I recap over the last 53,000 miles of me riding this bike all over USA/Canada (inicluding twice NYC to California and Nova Scotia). Thousands of rides and dollars later, I can share the full picture of ownership of this glorious 620 Ducati Monster 620. If you have any questions about the bike or maintenance and other expenses, please make sure to let me know in the comments. As always, thank you all so much for your time, comments and views. Really appreciate it. Ride safe! And if you read this far tell me what Ducati motorcycle would you buy if you could buy any one, and if you wouldn't buy one - tell me why.

I *deeply* approve of this video. I preach 'pride of ownership' to my kids all the time, this video is a perfect example of what that means and what it stands for. Like I tell people, if the machine treats me right, I'll treat it right. If I could buy any Ducati, I'd be all over a Streetfighter V4 or MultiStrada V4. Those are so extremely $$$$ though, it is not ever going to happen. But there you are.
@ducatinyc

Agreed - pride of ownership is crucial - i wish i was even better at it than I am but... I'm still learning. And a V4 SF, oh I would buy one in a heartbeat if i could keep it safe in this town but at this point I cant

I understand what you feel for your monster. I have a 2005 S2R800, 40 000km on the 2 years, 2 road trips in Europe but I have a back cylinder oil leak. I bought a Nine T scrambler for road trips and to commute (I can pack easily more things and she's more capable on fire roads for moto camping and explore) but I keep my monster because I adore that bike, I'll fix this leak and keep riding this bike to my old days ! ^^

Nice, i like those Nine T's - really wanted one for a second. And its getting almost that time for me as well, time for a fresh new/newer bike so the Monster can relax a bit - I want to rebuild it and make it crispy again - right now its well worn.

I love the early Monsters. Had a 750 for 16 years, but always wanted the very first M900 from 1993. I finally managed to find one in good cosmetic order 5 years ago. Paid £2000 for it (about 2.500 dollars) Swapped the termignonis from the 750 and never looked back. Its very reliable, and gets so much positive attention, particularly from non riders. They can't believe it when I tell them it's almost 30 years old! Thats proof of timeless design. The later styling does nothing for me, and the current models look awful IMHO.

I hear ya. I love love love the proportions and design of the 620. What a timeless classic with that fat tank and exposed full trellis. However I do love the new Monsters too, really love them and it might be my second bike pretty soon here.

Looks like you're going to surpass my bike soon (58k miles). Apart from the ignition coils and the clutch plates, all of the replacements are the regular wear and tear of a bike that is ridden a lot. Maybe you could do a compression test and a leak-down test this winter to see if your piston rings and valve seals are still in good condition. I'll probably be putting my original front cylinder head back on this winter and am tempted to change the valve seals and piston rings just to renew the engine for the next 60k miles...

I sincerily love this bike, think this is the best desing ever. But, looking for a best sitting position, price/specs relation, tech updates, I'ld prefer the 797; where I live you find it for the double of the 620 or a 695... I also like the 696 for the same reasons, but after those years its price is near to the 797. I wouldn't buy a 821 because has too much innecesary power. The recent Triumph Trident is amazing, just what I once told you the market actually needs, a tricilinder engine like a yamaha xsr 900 but cheaper and with less power. I got my license a few years ago and still have no bike, but I made my research 😆

Dan Moto and cheap ones - they sound like shit, they start to rust after 6 months, they are heavy and ugly - the build quality you can tell right away that something is off. Gotta pay for quality.
