Great video as always Trevor. Vicariously living through your huge mileage and enjoying seeing the impact or not that it’s having on the bike. Need to ride mine more. Lovely bike.

Good to see you back making videos again. I have put gt6 on mine also. Although I've only done over a thousand miles I think they are very good in wet and dry riding. Keep well and enjoy your travels. Andy

Another welcome update, 60k miles, impressive. Will check my brake hoses. Had to the steering head bearing(35k but well overdue). Have the same sw tank bag and CB’s good quality gear.

Great update Trevor, thanks for that, I am on a mere 21.5k miles. Had 2 new rear wheel huggers (behind the wheel) - most recent one starting to split on plastic weld again) plus 3 new sets of front discs and pads due to warping. Have to regularly top up the oil, otherwise mechanically and electrically sound so far. I am interested to see how you go with the Road 6 GTs. Enjoy your trip and keep safe. 🏍️

Thanks Mark, you might have noticed in the video that I’ve taken my rear hugger off for good now! Have you got a tail-tidy fitted to yours? Some tail tidies can cause the bottom of the number plate to touch the hugger (when rear suspension is fully compressed). Worth checking, fitting a slightly small than legal number plate can help..😉👌

Good that you've got back on two wheels. The very low mileage one I managed to find and buy this summer developed a misfire when opening the throttle. I'm hoping the dealer collects it next week and finds/fixes the problem. It's still not done 2000 miles yet. So, unfortunately not been out a lot on it since I bought it. That plus the rain we've had up north a lot this summer, it's been fairly rare to get out. Hopefully will get mine back in working order to get out there before the colder times start...

Gracias trevor!!

Hi Trevor I ride an fjr 1300 and have always used the gt tyres from pirelli , Michelin , metzeler and currently Dunlop as the old girl comes in wet at 295 kg . I guess u know the only difference between the gt and non gt is the the thicker side wall which I guess may give a slightly firmer ride . I’ve also heard but may just be a bikers fable that if u get a puncture u can nurse the bike to a garage if not too far . I’m looking at the 1260 as a potential next bike . It seems your pretty happy with it and it’s been pretty reliable , after 100000 ks you’d know her inside out. Here in oz if we lose 12 points we can opt for good behaviour and keep riding but if we lose any points during the probation period we lose our license for double the original time ie in your case 12 months . At the end of probation if we’ve been good we start with a clean slate

Hopefully you didn't suffer too much during your hiatus :). You'll love the tires. I had a set installed last September just before riding from Greece to Spain, Andalucia and back (6700km in total) and when I returned they were as good as new! This was riding with three bags and myself but always within the local limits (120-130km/h), so they didn't get a thrashing but it's still impressive. My tire dealer said that there were a few complaints about wobblying in higher speeds but my experience at ~240km/h showed no such thing. I expect to get aroung 14K kms out of them, maybe more, which is more than enough. It also excels in rain. I also had the Angel GT II and it was equally as good with a little better turn in but not that good mileage (about 12K kms). Also they don't seem to have squared at all albeit working mostly upright. More than happy with them. Oh! Same bike as yours... Enjoy!

Thanks for that….the last 6 months are all in the past now…and long forgotten! Very interesting comments re: ROAD 6 GT’s. Can I ask if you had the standard ROAD 6’s beforehand? Or have you jumped straight from the Angel GT’s to the ROAD 6 GT’s? I’ve clocked up 250 miles so far on them - all in dry conditions though - and I have to say there is a positive and pleasant difference in the feel on the rear wheel. It’s always difficult to articulate “feel”, but the GT’s appear to have a more solid/stable feel when riding on the profile of the tyre. I’m aware though that there is more structural strengtheness at the centre of the GT’s, so it could be me reading more into it than there really is!! I’ll need to do a bit more comparison testing whilst I can still remember the ROAD 6 characteristics…but at present I’m happy with the switch to the GT’s!

@@MouldyPIX Unfortunately no, I didn't come to the GT from the normal model. I had the Pilot 4 on my older Multi ('11 1200 ABS) and I now have the Pilot 5 on it and I believe it's an inferior tire to the 4. My 1260S had the Angel GT II's when I got it and I switched them for the Road 6 GT, which I believe is a far superior tire to both of the older models. As I said, the Angel GT's are great as well. I believe they are a tad better in the dry when they warm up but a little bit less grippy than the Pilot 6 in the wet (although with enough grip to be considered excellent). It would be really a choice of where and what season you are going to use the bike the most. I believe the Michelin would be better for the british weather. One thing I can definitely say is that both the Pilot 5 and Road 6 had an even wear between the front and the rear. Also the Road 6 feels far more rigid in the back compared to the older models. I believe it's because of what you mentioned: both the carcass and the center compound are harder. I'm only 75kg so, the difference in sturdiness is not something I feel when I ride the bike alone. I only feel it when it's heavily loaded or I ride two up.

HI Trevor, just chanced on your video, starting with the comparison between the XR. I currently own the same bike as you (marvellous machine) but looking to change to the '24 S1000XR. But seeing your videos, I might just change my mind. Do you have any feedback on the PR6 GT? I was on the normal PR6 and went to the Pirelli Angel GT II, which gave me quite a bit of low speed wobbles, most noticeably moving off. I've been wanting to get back to the PRs but there appears to have some dealership issues here in the Land Of The Long White Cloud. However, word's on the streets is that supply of Michelin tires will be back within a couple of months. Wanting to hear how you feel about the PR6GT and their longevity. Bike has now done 43k kms over 5 years and I've had to have a shim added during the Desmo. Other than a failed quickshifter and an oil leak due to a worn top gasket, the bike is absolutely flawless. Which makes it really hard (and now with your video) to make the change to the BMW; cannot find a compelling reason to change. Keen to hear back!

Do you like the screen that’s on there now? What is it? Got the Palmer device per one of your other vids, but still looking for a screen to minimize buffering at 80+ (I’m 6’ talk)

What gearing are you using? If changed, impression?
@MouldyPIX6 ай бұрын
I’ve switched to a 15/42 sprocket set up. It makes 3rd gear usable at 30mph, gives more punch low down in the rev range and 6th is more usable at motorway speeds. Only downside is a slight loss of top-end speed, but I rarely get anywhere need these limits!
