Күн бұрынFor 2019 Ducati have facelifted their most successful motorcycle of modern times, the Ducati Scrambler! The Scrambler was introduced in 2015 and has been a massive success story!
Ducati have very sensibly left the chassis, frame and 803 cc, 72 bhp engine unchanged for the 2019 bike. Instead Ducati have chosen in response to their riders and fine tune a few important aspects to improve the rider experience. This includes an LED daytime running light, cornering ABS, an upgraded display with gear position indicator, fuel gauge, and new switchgear which also includes self-cancelling indicators. There are some small cosmetic changes, but the Scrambler recipe remains very true to the original. There have been further subtle changes to the refinement too. Ducati have slightly softened the suspension and introduced a new wider seat with a more dense foam filling, meaning any rider can find the optimal seating position.
All these changes mean that Ducati have decided to hike the pricing for the new Scrambler this year, with the entry level Ducati Scrambler Icon starting at £ 8,150. Here at Intermot, Ducati are also exhibiting the new Scrambler Full Throttle - £9100, Desert Sled £9800 and Café Racer - £9700. None of which would be describes as cheap, but we all agree they look fantastic!!

As a Ducati owner, I have to remind people that sometimes it's worth paying more and getting more, especially with respect to Italian soul. Not everybody resonates with or has ever experienced what that means, but I would caution against too hastily discounting it.

I think they look great! However, it comes down to, as mentioned, does the money for the looks do it for ya? If so fine. Enjoy your new bike. Otherwise there's a lot to chose from to meet your needs.

They look nice, but they're getting a bit expensive. Then there's the valve clearances that need checking every service, the cam belts that need frequent changing ...

Hello Ducati, you were getting 87hp out of a 2012 796 and you're still sitting on your rear ends with this bike at 72hp in 2019. Wake up! And no the 1100 isn't going to do it for me when my 2013 1100 air cooled monster will smoke your Scrambler. Wake up Ducati, the competition is going to blow you into the weeds!

Single front disc brake fades too easily on these. If the scrambler line was equipped with dual front disc, I would consider owning one. The US market is flooded with used scramblers. Why is that?

Knox Armour thanks for the reply!! I have been leaning towards the Svartpilen as I love it’s unique on the road. However the Ducati to me seemed to be easier to service if problems arise. Unfortunately in the USA we can’t even purchase them because of the recall so I have to wait. Did you get a chance to ride the Svartpilen 401?

@@modernmanventures Yes, of course, that's a real consideration. If you haven't got a good dealer locally for the Husky, its an issue. There are quite a few warranty issues that could go wrong with it in our experience and for what customers say, so local support is pretty important. Not that that stopped us buying the 701 Enduro 🤣.

Knox Armour haha understood. At this point those 2 bikes are front runners for me if I see them used or leftovers. I could be swayed to MT-07 or one of the other bikes in the middleweight class if the price is right. Thanks again. Also, just picked up the urban pro short and looking forward to wearing it.

Why don't these guys talk about the only real bike in the three, the Desert Sled? Oh wait, what am I saying? I forget that I represent the one owner in a 1000 who will be actually using the bike off-road, using it properly rather than posing around town.In fact these two perfectly represent the average Scrambler 'Hipster' lifestyle customer. In contrast I will be taking a Desert Sled on the Great Continental Divide trail in 2019 and then over the 13,000 foot altitude trails in the Rockies that I know well, and then around the trails in Moab. Having tested the 2018 Sled, I am supremely confident that the 2019 will do the job effortlessly, not as well as a KTM500EXC does, but more challenging and fun (and just between us, I just love putting a finger up to the poseurs like these guys!).

Looked like The Sled didn't change much, at least style-wise, upgrading the electronics like the rest would be great. I like The Sled, considered it. It is beautiful, but puh-leeze if you think it makes you some kind of an off-road god, you are just as much of a poseur. My 2015 wr250r does the job better. However, I would on looks alone rather have The Sled. So drop your pom-poms and the rah-rah, my "idea" of biking is better than yours crap and own what you like. The Scrambler Line pretty-much saved Ducati, but you're better than all those pussies, buying for looks and lifestyles. Any other personal biases, of yours, we should give a rat's ass about?...or you could search 2019 Desert Sled and get what you like.

Joe Craig, the WR250R is a superb bike, and of course it would do all of it better, so would a KTM500EXC, which is what I normally use but anybody can do it on either of those, it is a bit more of a challenge to see if one of these 'poseur' machines can do it, must be my warped sense of humour!

What's strange about it? Ducati is a company with a bottom line. How many 20k+ bikes do you own? My FZ-07 makes about that much hp at around 400lbs and it is capable of receiving plenty of speeding tix. Wait you are the speedway champ that rides only The V4 Panigale...lmfao.

Sorry you get so offended by people's opinions if they differ with yours. I've been riding in SoCal for 27yrs, everything from HD's through sport bikes. I currently have over 60k miles on my FZ-09, as it was a great choice for commuting through LA traffic. The FZ-07 is a good starter bike, as I guess this Ducati Scrambler is. I don't see this thing doing well in the US market, but in the European market where little commuter bikes are where they make most of their sales, I'm sure it'll sell fine. Here in the US they would need something in the 90+ hp to even start to compete with the competition.
