The best music is played in a kitchen or around a picnic table, well done 👍

There's a moment at about 1:50 where Rachel's eyes lock onto Allison's fingers, and you just see them open wide with an "oh wow!" kind of look. Considering Rachel Eddy's one of my favorite old time banjo players, the obvious appreciation on her face really drives home just how good Allison DeGroot is.

😂😂😂 I was just thinking that! This happened to a buddy of mine at another picking circle. He just rolled in and my friend almost lost the tune he was playin.

Allison DeGroot, the banjo player in blue with her back to the camera performs with Bruce Molsky, primarily with Molsky's Mountain Drifters. And the other players are no slouches; all stars in their own right.

I keep coming back to this video jam along on my banjo (clawhammer) and every time I play I start piecing the melody and notes to hit and keep getting better. Thanks for posting this video for us all to better ourselves in jam!

Funny you should say that, every time I drag out my 5-String, fiddle, or mandolin, there are screams, puffs of smoke, and everyone has gone :)

How does this kind of music have names chosen? There seems a whimsicality that frequently goes with the feeling of the music. Would be nice if the names of the creators were somehow preserved though the overwhelming sense of community in this culture for all the ages that this music has existed might just not need that. The more I hear the music and see the dance the more I believe I’m starting to experience the ancient foundations of this. We are fortunate this continues and is not lost

That's just it, folk music isn't *written* and has no *creator.* It has no more a creator than say, a bird song, or these words.
