DIY Water Pumping Windmill Directional Sail And Powerhead

About 10 years ago I began construction of an extensive rainwater collection and storage system to support our efforts in organic gardening on our urban homestead. We are now pr-pairing for a full time RV lifestyle and that means the 1000 gallon catchment and storage system that I constructed will be dissembled and re-homed. Meanwhile I found this footage that I shot years ago and decided to share it with my fellow KZfaqrs in the hope that someone else can benefit from the solutions that I created. I found the blue barrels on my local Craigs list and all of the PVC pipe and fittings came from Home Depot, the rest had me running all over to find so I have simplified things for you.
Here is a list of the various “hard to find” parts you will need to recreate the wind mill and rain water system.

Do you have a link for the cam at the end of back of the windmill shaft that drives the pump rod ? Or what did you use?

I would like you to explain how the automatic wind vane brake works

It is not automatic. All manuel, so I have to be attentive to the wind forecast. The pump works so well it will fill the tower in about an hour with a 10mph wind.

I understand your frustrations! I also spent about a year looking and researching before I decided to just build one. unfortunately I do not have any instructions and I did not do a very good job of filming or documenting the creation. this was a one-off production where I was solving the problems as I created the windmill.

Thanks for the response. I did get a few ideas from you though, appreciate that. I don't have the tools or tech know how to build something like this, but maybe can get a friend to look at it. I have rain barrels and a tote, and would love to have a windmill for a drip irrigation water system. Thanks again!
