A unique interview.... Rock musician RICK WAKEMAN interviews former BBC "As Perscribed" theatre organist DUDLEY SAVAGE.
Dudley was in his 90's this day, and passed away shortly after. Dudley Savage presented a Sunday morning 'organ' request programme on BBC radio from the ABC/Royal Theatre, Plymouth UK for over 40 years. He will go down in history as one of the finest and accurate players of his day.

What a very interesting interview, and what a very lucky man, not only to have had what sounds to be such an interesting life, but to have retained his faculties into extreme old age. Rick Wakeman, also, made a good interviewer. Thanks for the posting.

Had Dudley over to play the Standaart theatreorgan in Leeuwarden and also recording him in Germany on the ex Regal Putney Compton. Unique organist with his own style and could tell he had been in India never seen somebody who eat his curry so hot!!!!!!!!!!

I remember him coming to Jersey CI and playing the Church organ, The Church is now an arts centre, and the organ when abroad.

What has happened to the ABC Plymouth Compton has it been restored ?

Thanks for posting this, John. DS cames across most favourably. The Ex-Royal/ABC Compton never made it to Blackheath though, did it not? Is it still in storage?

I do recall that the Compton installation there fell through at a very late stage. To the best of my knowledge the 3-8 organ remains in storage.
