I just miss these times of brilliant innovative games made by smaller studios with small budgets. Nowadays, the large corporations just copy&paste what works, use dumbed down mechanics to cater to a wider audience and blow huge budgets on visuals. They don't have the flexibility to make a truly brilliant game anymore. Everything is so boring.

I wouldn't say so. The initial City 17 maps are bigger than dust2, and performance doesn't suffer.

Although areas were blocked off - in some cases - the maps were generally larger than most of the maps of the time. Furthermore, the majority of blocked off areas in HL2 were eventually explored - i.e a building that is locked at one point is eventually opened, such as in the Ravenholm sequences.

I wouldn't shit on it's all gearbox' fault here. 3d realms had its sheer of faults, by swapping engines all the time and scrap the games they should have continued to develop instead of going towards their route. Also the fact they explicitly anted to have all features found in FPS was insane and stupid. Mostly the fact that they don't blend well together and the fact they the game could be selective towards what's was good in old FPS and what was good in new FPS, and they pretty much took neither. Also I wonder what gearbox did to be honest, but I think they didn't made anything to make the game better, and rather go for the worst. Also now they are trying to rape people, because they know there is a lot of duke nukem hardcore fans who will buy anything with duke nukem in it and the fact they removed the megaton edition to push their incomplete version is just lame. The saddest part is that there isn't any FPS who have common points with duke mixing highly interactive levels, with a talkative badass, fun weaponry and a good monster rooster. And while games such as serious sam, will rock and painkiller came quite close to that, they lacked of the interactive levels

wow. as someone who grew up playing duke and tolerated the demo of DNF for literally 30 seconds before quitting, this brings me back and its extreme awesomeness makes me very sad that DNF turned out the way it did.

King Mah Boi From Gabencity I just didn't set a par time. 49:44 seems to be the default setting. I didn't bother to change it when I made the map.

DNF was a mishmash of features of all the FPS that came out before its release. It's pretty much it. but the whole design was contradictory in general. Duke Nukem 3D was something special at the time. I think they should have released their 2001 version of the game in 2002 or 2003 instead of scrapping everything and rebuild it ... It would have certainly be a huge success with lots of interactivity and fun and it would have been well modded ....

talos2233ify1 Unfortunately I'm not the main designer of this MOD. This map I've made is actually an user made DLC that was given the OK by the creators of the original mod. I'm currently working on something for 3DR so I can't take any hobby maps for now, until I finish that in a couple months :D

It'd be great if there were more map packs for the DNF 2013 Mod. Indeed all these levels are awesome but ultimately we only really get a slice (A Damn good slice mind) of what might've been since it takes no time at all to go through both the DNF mod and the DLC content. Fantastic work all round of course; I just wish there was more :D

Kris Sturni actually the user CursedLemon made the song specifically for me. He made it a couple years ago and I liked it. I told him to remake and remaster it for this map and he agreed to do it. He made a great new version!! I'm quite pleased with his work, it compliments the fast action of my map very well.

This is how Duke Nukem and vehicle levels should be done. Highly intense fast action and not once do you feel detached from it. The Duke Nukem Forever monster truck sequences are slow and clunky in comparison.

Considering the kind of guy Duke is he wouldn't really drive motorbikes, he's more of a flying car driver as seen at the beginning of Duke Nukem 3D.

+Avoozl Or various parts of Duke Nukem 2. But I can see him riding a motorbike too. A flying car, especially the kinds in Duke Nukem 2, would be loads more fun, but the idea of him using a motorbike came from earlier footage from Duke Nukem Forever.
