I was very young, maybe five years old, when that was going. My brother and I were more than a little scared of the Hulk, but we persevered to watch the fun-loving, car-jumping Dukes at nine o'clock. By the time Dallas came on at ten, it was time to go to bed, and Dallas was not of interest to little kids, anyway.

Tigermantcb 1977 Same here! There was no Netflix, iTunes or Disney plus back in those days. I was lucky however. Why? Due to my strong interest in how movies were made, at times my Parents would let me stay up late for The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson even on a school night if there was somebody special on I wanted to see. This was of coarse before we got our vcr so I could program & record the tonight show while I slept.

It's not just you. I still monitor what my kids watch. I remember that lineup. We would go to my grandparents almost every weekend. They lived way out in the country about an hour and a half away. We would get out of school on Friday, do our homework before our parents got home, pack (if we didn't the night before), and get there in time for supper, eat with all the aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. Then all 27 of us would gather in the living room and watch Dukes. We all would spend the whole weekend and go back home Sunday afternoon. Such great memories!

Beloved The same thing happened to my great grandparents family. They had 12 children. We all (children, grandchildren, greats, great greats- hundreds of us!) got together several times a year and had a family reunion each year on the first Sunday in June. Oh my goodness the food and fellowship! We can all still count on most in any circumstance. Now, there are only 5 children still living, but reunions stopped several years ago. It’s really sad. But my memories are great.

@@veronicageorge7820 Wow. Thanks for sharing. My grandparents had 6 kids (4 are still alive) and 13 grandkids. The rest of the 27 were spouses of the 6 kids. They lived on a farm kind of like the Dukes, so my grandpa taught us all how to take care of the animals. He mainly had horses, but he also had some pigs chickens, and occasionally a cow. My grandma taught us how to cook without relying too much on recipes. I have some uncles and cousins that always had guitars and even banjos. You talk about 1 country family! 😄 I wouldn't trade my childhood for the world though.

In today's throw away society everything from appliances, cars and unborn children, America has withered away. I suspect the lucky people today were raised by parents and saw grandparent that lived through the depression. I was two years old when the Dukes of Hazzard premiered. My fondest memory is sitting on our couch and my dad sat with me, we would watch the show every Friday night. I always looked forward to Friday's nights and watching my favorite show. Interesting enough my dad had an old 68 Dodge Cornet, and I had blonde hair until I was 5. So, naturally I thought my dad's car was the General Lee. In fact, I would only got in the car through the windows. A few years ago I purchased all the DVD seasons and lately when I get sad missing my dad who passed away last year I put in the DVDs to watch the show. Mr. Schneider thank you and all the cast for being a part of my childhood. It was indeed a show for the family and I will always cherish it.

John is a very polished speaker, even when he’s speaking extemporaneously. I enjoy listening to him. Yeah, the lineup was Incredible Hulk/Dukes/Dallas until 1982. When Hulk ended, the other shows slid forward an hour, with Falcon Crest at 10. After Dukes ended in 1985, I don’t think they ever found a lead-in for Dallas that worked as well. Dallas slid out of the top 10 by 1986.

I watched Dukes and my mom watched with me. I don’t think I watched it from the beginning and I didn’t see every episode because I was at my high school’s football game every Friday night that there was a home game. My mom and I watched Dallas too but not from the beginning. We started watching it when The Who Shot JR thing was going on. I was 14 and in high school. I wanted to say thank you for giving us kids something that lasted our whole lives. I actually got to see "A General Lee" at a convention once. It's always been a dream car because of the Dukes of Hazard.. I even had the Lunch Box. But really, I'm not here for me. B is for Build recently had their Eleanor mustang build, confiscated by the creators of Gone in 60 Seconds... And I just do not get it... With all the General Lees, with all the Knight Riders, and all the Back to the Futures... That if someone built a General Lee, and and Dukes of Hazard just "took it from them"... ? I understand you are not a lawyer, but I am wondering what YOUR thoughts are, as the General is one of the most desired movie cars ever produced. That perhaps, it might even be cool to see you reach out to Chris, who did work hard for this car... And shed some light on what happened... I couldn't tell you Hannibal Smiths real name, or who played the Hulk... But I will never forget John Schneider. I mean that. Friday Night, right after Hulk, 8pm, 9pm, I was home. 7pm... I was home... I was about 7 years old. It's funny how you can do something, and it stays with people for life.

I agree with you so much on innocence lost. The TV and Music today is so bad. I was born in the 60s so I grew up listening to my moms and siblings generation of music and TV as well as my own. The TV and Music of 50s 60s 70s and beginning of the 80s was so wonderful. I brought my own 6 children up with the same music and TV. Things had heart in them and really had meaning behind them! When a song comes on that takes you back to the first time you heard it and you feel that same emotion as in the past that my friend is heart and soul. Same with TV I remember when I would have tears or the biggest smile on my face. Absolutely nothing today compares in TV or radio as those wonderful yrs. TV had a moral behind the show with down to earth fun and reality mixed together. I really miss those years. They were great and innocence was kept. God bless John
