Within only a few months of his international race debut, Jarno Saarinen, Finnish ice-racing champion, went from obscurity to being the name on the lips of every motorcycle racing fan.
In "Imola 200" you can see why, as he wins both legs of the 'Daytona of Europe' riding only a 350 Yamaha against the cream of 750 superbikes - a truly awesome feat!
The range of different machinery is only matched by the range of nationalities as this was the first time that America's top riders arrived in force to challenge Europe's best. Thanks to Cal Rayborn, they nearly succeeded, but the talent of Saarinen was supreme.

Jarno was my dad's hero...so he was mine(1961)..........called our son....Jarno !!! 1986.

He was a hero of mine ever since I saw him win the Daytona 200.It was his style that Kenny Roberts copied that made Kenny a champion.

Terrible tragedy when he was killed in a race crash at Monza which also took the life of Renzo Pasolini. He surely would have reached the rarified heights of of the greatest had he lived

Jarno taisteli mailmanmestaruuteen isoja tuulimyllyjä vastaan💪 (= isoja talleja) yhdessä vaimonsa Soilin suurella tuella mukana kisoissa , Minusta meillä Suomessa pitäisi paljon enemmän olla tästä huippu kuljettajasta nyky Suomalaisille mediassa esillä.

They do! 👍 But it is apparent they will not always. You are watching the last 2 perhaps 3 decades of actual racing. The way Society is being enslaved, the removal of risk under the guise of health and safety will inevitably render real organized professional racing either illegal or unnecessary. With the emergence of VR, prevalence of pussified soyboys, extreme radicalized feminism, and a sick, unnatural push to turn males into females via trans-life, the act of throwing a leg over a motorcycle or strapping into a race car will not exist. Perhaps on the fringes, Rogue type racing, Outlaw Racing Etc. If you think the technocracy will allow people to take risk as long as they are paying for them you are sadly mistaken. Once UBI becomes a reality, the average person will not be allowed to do many things in a totalitarian, authoritarian technocratic Society. So thank goodness we have these videos to look back on Vintage and classic racing. Thank goodness racing still exist for the moment but rest assured it will disappear.
