The spanner at 1530 I think is known as a crows foot (old style)

If I remember correctly, some models of sad iron came with a detachable handle, so you could have several irons heating at the same time, and just move the handle from the cool one to one that was hot. That saved a lot of space when storing them between uses.

An interesting collection of bits and pieces reflecting some aspects of Coventry's industrial past. The sad/flat/smoothing irons and what looked like part of a very early sewing machine are beyond my knowledge to date but I believe that in the past Coventry was a centre of lace making. As it became more mechanised so the machine making industry in the city grew. Bicycle makers sprang up and then car manufacturers and also aero engine and aircraft making, particular during the last World War. After the terrible bombing that the city suffered and the subsequent redevelopment of large parts of the city I would guess that there are many more artefacts awaiting discovery. Thanks for your video, I enjoyed it.

Hi Mr.& Ms. Leaky and crew! Love your videos! Does Ms Pesky sing your opening song? I love that song. I have an idea for the old irons - clean them, sand them, then paint them - adding flowers, birds etc. Now you have a fancy repurposed iron that can be used as a decorative piece or a door stop.

You found a very old fire grate, from those tiny fireplaces that were in small rooms & cottages in the (1700's-1800's) it looked to be in perfect condition. 👌 it wasn't featured in the round up, so it must not be historically valuable or rare there.🤷‍♀️
