Howdy, y'all! My name is Mike and I absolutely love scavenging for free stuff, random treasures, lost valuables and other interesting artifacts. Thank you for loving animals, Mike. I do not see your kind of love toward animals on my travels across the globe. I try to spread the love for animals in remote places, but it seems like I am talking to a wall. Your love, passion, compassion...and comedy, of course...is what draws me to your videos. The dumpster diving and curb side pickups are just a bonus.

Hey Mile, there is nothing wrong with all those drinks. The date is only a sell by date. They are not expired. I would have grabbed everyone of them. Lol. Dumpsters seem a little empty today. Oh, sorry for your loss of Lou. 😔 Its hard to loose one of your beloved friends. 💜🙏🏻

It's a "best by" rather than "sell by" date. But same story ... food/drink doesn't instantly turn bad after that date. It's an estimation by the manufacturer & is generally accurate but also meant to make you buy more.

Interesting variety of goodies today! Sell by dates are there because the government requires it. It’s disgusting how much food is wasted because of that. If it’s properly sealed, not dented, it’s fine. Thanks Mike

Yeah. It's criminal. I get food heavily marked down because of the "sell by" date all the time. Steaks, soup, nearly anything else and it's always fine. I'm 40 years old and I've never gotten food poisoning from "expired" food. If it smells good and looks good it's fine. Hell, even a tomato or an apple with a bruise or two is perfectly ok. The amount of waste the world produces is disgusting.

And dented is fine too...only if rusted or swollen toss...or if dented on the top as that has a different seal under the lid on some...85% of what goes to food banks is past date and many are dented...eat them all the time

@@bradmaunders1733 we eat a lot of dented canned food too. The thing about some of the dented cans is a sharp dent can crack the coating inside the can wich exposes the food to the metal can. Especially anything with tomatoes in it the acid eats the cans in turn the food taste like metal.

@@MDestron2282 I agree. so, i use to work at a different location of our local grocery store, so i know how their mark down system works, especially in the meat and sea food departments. i have an extra fridge with the freezer on top, and the freezer on top of that one is completely full of shrimp and scallops, and a few small lobster tails. yer damn right I will buy a $35 pack of sea scallops for $7, and take them straight home and put them in the freezer for future meals. 99 % of the time the food is still in date when they reduce it.

It infuriates me how much is wasted. We never even look at dates in our pantry. I have a bionic nose if something is off, I’ll know it once it’s opened.

Parts of a collation machine, stacks printed papers in a certain order for publishing. Crazy to see all those drinks, I find similar all the time and they're never actually bad, just "expired"

Sorry for your loss, Mike. Mike, I could be wrong but I used to install some of those smart Yale locks years ago. They simply break down, also some firmware issues happen from time to time. Since they have a motor to automatically close (I think) the motor also gives out after a while. How much for that old accordion in the box tho? Haha that's awesome.

Great haul! That World's fair instrument I believe is a concertina. Similar to an accordion as far as billows and all goes. You have my heart felt condolences on Loudog. I have rescues and have lost a few, and it does hurt. But as others have pointed out these furkids do get better lives. I am grateful to take rescued furkids. I just love them all.

That accordion 🪗 from 1904 is easily valuable to someone out there in the music field. Also makes a good collector item, at least the one that worked. Those parts tho I would bet you could look up some accordion sights and post what you have and I'm sure someone can tell you if worth something or maybe point you to someone who refinishes old instruments and would want the parts. This off brand Gatorade knock offs are still good for shelters to give out to homeless in that heat. Sorry for your loss bud !😢

Sorry you lost your dog it’s so hard to loose a fur baby! I know he had an amazing home while he was in your house! Great haul! Those isodrinks are fine it had a best by date not an expiration date! As someone else said would be good to donate to homeless!

I lost one this month. Had her spoiled hiney for 13-14 yrs. She was a rescue. Lost another dog last year and had him at least 15 yrs. It's rough, but when they are old, it's a little easier knowing they lived their life out. We laugh about her spoiled ways and how she trained us to take care of her.

We had a shop about 20 miles away from where I live that sold items that were short dated or had exceeded their best before date. Pretty reasonable prices too, except they had to close down because the landlord wanted a substantial rise in rent, and the local Council changed it so they could no longer have deliveries from the street outside, which really messed them around. The items are still good to eat or drink after that date, and the majority of items are good even a few years later. I'm sure someone else would have found and taken them to save them being thrown into landfill. At least I would hope so.

Great video. I tried a youtube experiment and it worked fine. I bought two 1/2 gallons of my skim milk. Both were dated to use by July 10th. I drank the first one on the 12th. It was fresh. I did not open the other one until 10 days after that. On the 22nd, I opened it even though it said to use by the 10th. So 12 days later it was absolutely still fresh. I no longer throw out milk. I used to by two and if the sell by date passed, I would throw out the un opened one. Milk is cheap here $1.28 a half gallon. Sorry about your dog. They are indeed family and keep us company and loved.

Doing it well, Mikey. One client has installed a deeper dumpster. I can climb in but (in my advanced years) I've had to invent a short ladder to get out. My wife thinks it's a hell of a joke!

Mike, I'm sure others have already pointed this out. Research that Accordions that you found pertaining the the worlds fair, because if it is possible you can contact pawn stars and they will allow you to ship them items to possibly sell them. Also there is a big difference in the dates the FDA requires be stamped on packaging for food products. A "Sell by Date" is a date that the store needs to have either sold the product or removed it from it's shelves. A "Use by Date" is a date that is meant for the consumer and stores alike to let you know a date that is considered the last day safe to consume the product within. Now a "Best by Date" is one you might see also, it is a date that considered a reminder or sort of notice to consumers and stores but in different ways, it tells stores that more than likely the should probably discount the items after that date as they are considered to not be top of the line standard in taste and value possibly. Consumers it acts to let us know we can still consumer it after that date but might not be the best, i.e. stale bread.

Glad Loudog had you guys to love him. I just saw a video about so many pets being dumped in the Houston area. Many of them are out there through cold, rain, and heat extremes. People who change lives are wonderful.
