It's amazing that you're saving these items from the landfill! It is so crazy how much stores waste. Also! If you find any empty lush containers, if you bring back I think 5, you get a free face mask!

Put the candles in the freezer for a couple hours then the candle should just pop out. Then either put the candle in a new glass candle holder or cut it up and use as wax melts!

Also I’m so surprised that lush threw all that out. I used to work there and we would take all of the broken bath bombs (the break so easily in shipping) and products that were about to expire. Or we would save the broken stuff for demos in store.

I scored about 30 candles from Yankee candle last week .Plus $600 worth of mens cologne for my husband and so much more

I love all of the candles. Just wrap them in a towel and gently tap with a hammer to remove the remainder of the glass, rinse off any glass bits with cool water and pat them dry. That way you can get decorative plates and dishes to set them on. You can get dishes and plates at yard sales or thrift stores for as low as 10 cents, 25 cents etc. Just an idea, they would make cute gifts or you could resell. Hell yes... go mark your territory at Lush !!

How often are there things in Ulta dumpsters? I did my first dumpster snag Sunday and scored like HUGE, gaming chair with all parts looks excellent never used in a box selling for 230$ and tons of computer programs in the $50-$99 price range. Your awesome girl!

I went to look into a dumpster 1x to get a box to ship an order and found candles. It was a tj maxx dumpster. I took the candle but omg I was so scared that I was going to get arrested or something It felt wrong. I envy people who have the guts to dumpster dive. I think it is great for the environment.

Trouble with Lush is the use of organic ingredients like fruit and flower petals can limit the shelf life. So some products have a sell by date for safety. A bit like food use by dates. If the shop can't sell the product in time it gets dumped. I know because I asked. Probably best you stick to using the dry stuff and chuch anything moist.

Quick tip for the broken candles melt them by setting them in boiling water the glass can be carefully fished out and the wax separates from the water once cooled you can remelt in to ice cube trays and use them as wax melts

I’m surprised they wouldn’t donate or even give them to the employees. If the glass is taken off perfectly good candles. They are giving you problems for helping to reuse the trash. That was intense. So much respect for u helping to eliminate waste. Crazy how the other people were pretending not to be dumpster diving out of shame.

Certain black pots from Lush can be returned for a free face mask so I would definitely keep checking that dumpster! All the Lush locations nearby are in malls or else I'd be checking mine weekly for some of their bubble bars and soaps.

In England, lush donate their unwanted products to refuges and psychriatric units as well as homeless charities. I don't think they'd be pleased that they are throwing them away in America.
