For everyone commenting about gloves, we usually wear them! We don't film all of our dives, and it's harder to film with gloves on. We don't use them when the dumpster seems cleaner than usual, and we avoid the dirty stuff when we don't have them on. There is nothing unsafe we are touching, so there is no need to comment that we need gloves when it's not necessary at all times. Thank you for all of the concern though! We will wear them more on camera from now on! 😊 Also, everything we use and keep is properly sanitized and disinfected like MUA's do before reusing product on new clients! We also do not use anything expired. If you think this is gross or disgusting, this isn't the place for you! Hate is unnesscesary and it's only making you look silly! 😊

They keep the dumpsters locked at my Ulta and I asked my friend why (she works there) she said one time a girl was dumpster diving and got some mascara and suffered from pink eye in both eyes and tried to sue their Ulta. She told me no matter how many times an item (ESPECIALLY mascara and eyeliner) you or someone working there "disinfects" there's still a chance of getting an infection, irritation, or blemishes on the skin. Anything that's been used is still dangerous and very unhygienic. Just be careful!!!

I work at ulta and as sad as it seams when they do recalls and what not if it calls to "damage" the product we must actually physically damage it so people can't do this for "sanitary reasons" but low key I've opened brand new products and had to scrape out the pan or cut tubes open and get out every bit of product so it can not be taken. I've wanted to cry with the amount of things we could just give to people or LET THE EMPLOYEES TAKE HOME!!! But no they make us destroy is and send tears flooding into the hearts of the makeup world. I wish ulta would change this policy

My stepdad used to pick up stuff that ppl would throw away in the wealthier area of our city,it was me and 4 of my siblings and we had no money after we came to the U.S but i remember how these wealthy ppl would throw almost brand new stuff! I never understood why didn't they just donated them,from Childrens cIothing,furniture and everything needed for a home ect..me and my siblings had great toys thanks to my stepdad,i helped him out a couple times and i still have a portrait i kept from those times.i am 37yrs old now and i am thankful that my kids have everything they need,those days really made me who i am today and its why every month i donate whatever we don't need or use to those in need...those childhood memories fill my heart with joy today and i will never forget my stepdad.☺💕

Just wanted to let you guys know that if you wanna keep dumpster diving don't show the return tags cause they have the store number on them, I used to work at ulta and stores do communicate with one another about possible dumpster diving incidents, because it's a huge liability to them, cause the fact that your walking away with stuff means someone's not doing their job and someone could possibly lose their job, so just letting ya know

I broke down and went to my local ulta dumpster last night, since I'm forty and haven't done any diving for about ten years I was giddy and excited...I left to get gloves and when I returned there were three cars each containing three girls parked all around and they tried to beat me up for being there. Uhhhhhh, it was like a mafia turf war and I'm just one person who had my curiosity reignited by y'all and is this a thing??? These girls, all of whom appeared to be quite young were aggressive and nasty, they called me grandma which I do have to laugh at but let me just say...if you do this remember it's open and free and not cool to threaten another person!! Also, they had at least ten large garbage bags full of loot and it's not like there wasn't enough to go around. Bizarre, but I'll make sure to get there first next time ;)

If you choose to dumpster dive that’s your decision and I respect that’s your hobby but please, be informed that Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is highly contagious. Mascaras I would not ever use if returned. Be careful be safe

The opened beauty blenders, mascara, and lip items are the only risky things that I wouldn’t take .. just gross. But the rest is a great find

Hello Ladies I am a GM here in Louisiana for Ulta . I know you are full of excitement and love scouring for products you love however, this comes with consequence. Let me give you ladies some knowledge and you can weigh your options . I’ll gladly elaborate on all aspects for you. Keep in mind we do have police, security detail and live video feed (cameras) 24/7 to protect our company workers & inventory. The costs of our products are a bit pricey due to thefts, damaged products, defective items, accidents, security/police detail and mobile parking lot sweepers just to name a few. This is STRICTLY PROHIBITED AND STRONGLY ENFORCED!! Why? Enforced due to reasons otherwise we would donate these items to charity or shelters for women. However, we can not due to numerous people returning items that they gotten from the dumpster is one reason another is liability. Example: A lady actually tried suing because the dumpster diving diva got hurt and cut from a perfume bottle that was disposed in the trash and proven thru our security tape However she did not succeed thus, she was banned from our stores. All because she got away a few times scouring due to our budget cuts. So with the company loosing money through attorneys, court costs for prosecution on thefts we raise the prices on products and heighten prevention on bogus returns. we go to great links in trashing merchandise . Destroying makeup products by spraying hair spray or raking a file through each one, diluting hair products with peroxide to weaken and destroy them and other items we spray paint to defect and protect them from being returned or used and so on. We use several tactics yet unfortunately we do not have the time effort or manpower to do each piece so yes they maybe a few slip ups..... However we destroy 85% mandatory . 📍Physically exposing yourselves to chemicals, bacteria, foreign agents, cross contaminated products you ladies are ♻️on your face, chancing your hair to fall out, obtaining broken glass or burns from industrial floor cleaning agents, and or a combination of all doesn’t seem exciting to me public embarrassment climbing out and ultimately bail money as you’ll be exposed with your name and pic in the paper and social media for trespassing, littering, and criminal damage to property after leaving glass and debris on the ground .

I went dumpster diving about 3 months ago and found a whole box of samples never been used still in the packages. It was pretty cool I was happy to be able to try them out before purchasing the one I liked the best. They were not dirty at all very clean box.

I was laying on my bed with my dog beside be and when she said "in the shade stray dog" she turned to look at me with huge scared eyes. I don't know how she understood that 😂

I would recommend u using like a mini tripod those flexible ones and when u go dumpster diving you can grip it to the dumpster (if that makes any sense) and we can like really see everything and so u can have 2 hands to work with 🙂

People hating but y'all are smart for doing this ... it may seem "dirty " but literally the products are return products and by their store or law they're not able to re sell them so they just throw it out untouched. You guys have products worth $30-40-50 and over!

I work at Ulta, and I can tell you that those products that were found "still in the box" were definitely used by somebody before. We do have a policy where we send damaged items back to corporate if certain brands ask for them, but otherwise they get thrown away. If you don't mind that, to each their own.

Lipgloss, mascara and and thing in a tube you should throw away. Reg lipstick you can cut the top and dip in alcohol to disinfect, the same with eye products. Everything needs to be cleaned throughly with Alcohol at the highest percentage you can find. You can save the mascara brushes if you clean well, but never use the product. Pink eye is no joke.

Btw I just want to let you know in case you plan on selling/using the used makeup you found. My cousin is an avid dumpster diver and she had found lots of good quality makeup (Kat Von Dee, Tarte & Anastasia, etc..). Some of it even looked intact or barely used. She was thrilled as fuck. Nonetheless, she did clean them and disinfected them with alcohol. However about 2 weeks later she got a huge eye infection. She developed the biggest conjunctivitis and her best friend got herpes on her lips from another dumpster dive despite having cut off some lipstick from the tube and having cleaned the gloss wand. Be very careful. I've since heard many horror stories from ppl that sell/buy/use used makeup found in dumpsters. Sometimes it's best to pay a little more and not fuck with your health. This is not a hate comment btw and perhaps it hasn't occurred to you YET but it can.

I work with companies like these and trust me sometimes we throw perfectly good stuff out just because some one returned it. Or maybe it fell and the soap or lotion pump broke. Literally we will just throw it In a bag n throw it in the dumpster. So when you work there you would realize it’s not that bad. Plus the inside of our dumpsters a pretty clean because it’s not close to any food places. So all that goes in there are boxes, clothes makeup. We have specific bins that we use to throw products and testers away in. So bathroom n lunch trash isn’t in the same trash bag as our products. So if you dumpster dive right n notice the bags then it’s really not dirty

for those who don't understand why ulta throws there stuff out. 1. nobody wants to buy a used product. 2. they can't risk putting something returned back on the shelf not knowing if it was used. I wouldn't wanna spend 50$ on a used foundation/eyeshadow ect... I'm not here to hate because you ladies are saving thousands unlike me . But this also freaks me out. 1. the germs just because it's In it's packaging doesn't mean it ain't used. I know alot of people (dumpster divers ) sanitize there products. Also expired products don't seem dangerous but I watched a video of a girl who put new foundation on a glass slide and a expired foundation on a glass slide and she let them both sit out for 24hrs. ...the expired one had mold and weird colored fuzzy stuff lol just make sure to check the expiry date ladies. 😁

I would not do that at less the products are sealed and not open before. You could get an infection that might cause you to go to the emergency room and that's probably more expensive than just buying it from the store!!!!

In India, children are forced in working in the mines to look for mica which is used in makeup. In America, people return makeup everyday and it gets thrown out. Something needs to be done about this.

I would be careful. A lot of that stuff is either ones people have tried and didn’t like or store samples. Who knows what diseases you could get and how many body fluids are on the product. Not hating but please use caution.

There is nothing on this planet of ours that could make me use even the untouched products from the dumpster, much less laying them out on any surface in my home. I’d always be haunted by where they were found and what they touched.

I enjoy these videos although I wouldnt personally partake in this. But some things should be off limits, opened uncapped lipsticks, unpackaged makeup sponges, mascara, etc.

The shelf was an excellent find! I used to work at a cosmetics counter. We had to discard all returns. The girls loved it because they would let us have it. Sometimes people wouldn't even have left the store yet and would make a return and we had to damage everything--unopened foundation, makeup brushes, perfume, everything.

That makeup has germs from hundreds of people swatching those products. Anything powder is left open and absorbs bacteria...anything cream continues to overlap on itself and germs are stuck inside of it. Spraying alcohol might kill whatever is sitting on top, but not what is absorbed inside, especially anything that's cream. When you start breaking out or catch Impetigo, Pink Eye or some other bacterial infection, you might think twice about doing this. I'd much rather save my money and purchase it brand new, than to risk an infection. But you do you.
