I worked with a girl and one of the burglars was her nephew - she said they were both drunk and decided to climb over the wall to rob a souvenir from Duncs house (so they new he lived there)- she said she visited her nephew the following day and he was a right mess - she said the family berated the lad for trying to steal from big Dunc but he was in hospital for a good few days - well in Dunc you took no prisoners on the pitch and they got what they deserved !!

this legend is a class act , when he was in charge of Everton youth , we played Norwich youth in cup ( they brought 3,000 fans ) they played us off the park but we won 2-1 , Norwich kids were devastated , Duncan went round everyone of them to commiserate , before celebrating with his team who idolised him , come back to goodison & the bramley Moore big man were you belong . He’s very well respected in my city (Stirling) he’s from here and got a very good name of being a good guy. My Dad was actually at the same table as him at a wedding may years ago when he was first starting his career. Couldn’t speak any higher of him.

I seem to recall one got battered whilst the second of the two burglars escaped after receiving a good leathering. Merseyside Police arrested Big Dunc for "assault" (Absurd isn't it? For defending his home and family!) Incredibly, some other morons didn't heed the lesson and attempted another break-in at Big Dunc's home at a later date. This time Ferguson man-handled the intruder and restrained him until the coppers arrived. The ensuing newspaper headlines said it all: "WARNING: DO NOT BURGLE THIS MAN"

It's normal protocol for the police to arrest you if you defend yourself in any way, they have to as they do need to formally question you in order to get all the facts, They aren't just going to take it on your word that you didn't antagonize the people in any way. If your story checks out the likelihood is you won't get charged but it's not the police's job to make that call it's the Prosecutor Fiscals job.

Back when Benn was in his prime the Met police apparently sent a photo of him to a newspaper by mistake saying he was a wanted gunman. And after printing it somebody actually tried to make a citizens arrest. Probably not the greatest idea.

I honestly believe big Dunc is possibly the hardest footballer of all time (a lot stronger then the average joe in the street) …but saying he would flattened a professional fighter who trained everyday for a living especially a once world class light heavyweight/Cruiserweight boxing champion is comical at best.
