I am so intrigued by Feyd’s battle arena scene being in b&w 🤔 this looks SO GOOD. The crumbling dune is such a nice touch. I cannot wait to see baby Alia 😭 ❤

I honestly wonder if it has something to do with Giedi Prime's sun or atmosphere. It is an industrial planet. Just speculation. The only scenes in Part 1 were at night, or indoors.

Exactly, this is at that level, and we licked out with the director, Blade Runner was amazing too, it just didn't got the attention it deserves, but this one gets all the hype :)

I got goosebumps, I cried, I felt excited. I cannot wait to see this on IMAX! I'm going to watch it at least 6 times in the theater. This looks like it's going to be better than the first one! So visually incredible and the acting is top notch! So happy for this!

The first one was just incredible.Of all the fantasy and Sci-Fy books in existence, Dune has always been the hardest to adapt into a film, more so than LOTR. I am absolutely astounded by Denis Villeneuve, truly. He really brings the complexity of the story forward, while also not being too complicated for none readers to follow. Personally I was captivated when I watched the first one, and I felt like an hour had gone by instead of almost three hours. I know some people have said the story itself is boring, but you really just have to sit and listen and pay attention to enjoy it. And as I said countless times before, Denis Villeneuve was cherated out of an Oscar, truly.

I couldn't agree more. Lots of brilliant touches: when Thufir Hawat's eyes turn white: it implies mentat mode without lengthy explanations even to people who haven't read the books. There were lots of little suggestions like that, really brilliantly done. I saw part one with a close friend who couldn't get through the book: too many factions & characters, he couldn't keep up. He loved the film. And I'm really impatient with long films, for me 90' is about perfect, but this felt too short! What, 2½ hours already?, I thought, it can't be over already! Totally agree with you there too, it just didn't seem that long. But I can't agree with people who think the plot is boring though. In ’84 I started reading it to my girlfriend. She wasn't into sci-fi and despite my telling her that if she never read another sci-fi novel, she had to read this one, she didn't, so I started reading it to her. After four evenings, I'd gotten about a third of the way through book one (remember Dune itself was split into 3 ‘books’?) when she said “Gimme that!” and snatched it out of my hands. She devoured it and Dune Messiah and Children of Dune.

@@JAIstarkillerkid yeh it was utter garbage because the whole point was the Atradies came across as Emotional and incompetent and the baron came across as calculative and able to control his. apart from maybe eating too much. total reversal of the behavior so it was a perversion to promote "oppressor oppressed victimhood" mentality which Herbert was against Commies n Figs

You should watch the director's roundtable with Denis. He talked about quitting being a director if the first Dune was a failure But it wasn't and i am happy now we are getting the second one.

I have such high hopes that the opening scene is Paul 'giving water to the dead', shedding a tear at Jamis's unnecessary death. It's this moment when Paul truly becomes Fremen and accepted by the Fremen of Sietch Tabr as Usul leading to his eventual legendary status on Arrakis as Maud'Dib. (IMHO). And please include the joke about Chani holding Paul's newly acquired water rings for him. We'll see how well Denis does!
