Watch as the Durango and Silverton’s Newly Restored K-37 #493 pull a train of freshly cut logs as part of the fire mitigation efforts of the railroad. Here we see the train returning full on May 5th, 2020 full and loaded. Even some friendly banter from the conductor regarding my Dallas Stars cap! Enjoy!

Nice! I remember the first time I saw a steam engine up close over 25 years ago. I took my son who small to the Campo railroad museum, I don't know if you've ever been. The steam loco was coming to the station we were at waiting to board one of the cars and as it got close it blew the whistle and nearly scared me out of my socks !!! What an impressive piece of machinery that is moved by steam. Kind of boggles the mind...

Do you know what the load of wood was for? I thought D&SNG did mostly the passenger excursions up to Silverton and dropping patrons off at the zip line course on the way. - Jason W.

SSW trainfreak86 it’s for fire mitigation up in the canyon. Cutting trees close to right of way and ones that fell in previous avalanches.
