The awkward moment when people are like "omg she's so annoying and not talented" when that's the whole point. You just figured it out. That's the entire purpose of the character Miranda Sings. She is SUPPOSED to be talentless and awkward and annoying and obnoxious. She's SUPPOSED to think she's better than everyone else. That's the point of Colleen's character. You got it.

How many times do we have to tell you people that miranda is SUPPOSED TO BE ANNOYING. That is her character, she is supposed to be this unlikable/hard to watch character and a lot of people find her funny. Well, he's a mega millionaire, and is still watched/paid by TV religiously (I love Seinfeld) but her humor isn't for everyone. She's reasonably funny, although I can't always stand her, what she represents is hell funny, but her humor/character and Jerry's collide. Jerry is himself, always, can't act (or can only act as himself), whereas Miranda is an extreme character that's pretty obnoxious (inc. w/ Jerry, i.e. deliberately fucking up at pictionary). Jerry has a non-nasty type of boy-ish humor ('did you ever notice', a true observational comic) while Miranda is all in the characterisation, not in the 'jokes' or wordplay. Two very different styles, and I think understandably, Jerry might take her coldness and hostility as a sign of rudeness, or just forcing him to over-compensate in the 'funny' for the show when she's flat-lining. She doesn't/won't have as broad an appeal as Jerry does, but that's fine.

There’s nuance to what she’s doing, and you’re only looking at the surface level, that’s not my problem. There’s a lot to learn from actors like that. Think of Willem DaFoe in the latest Spider-Man movie. He did the same thing during the apartment scene. It’s a subtle thing that takes a lot of work to do well. Admittedly, DaFoe did it while already being a character, not just himself, like Colleen did in this clip. It’s still beyond what a lot of actors I’ve seen can do. It takes work.

I love seeing these! Being able to see comedians out of character every now and again is refreshing. When you have so many in one place, they all make each other laugh, forcing them out of character. Weirdly enough, I felt like Colleen broke character the most, but her character is so much more exhausting to play. Miranda is so full of herself and overconfident, it must be difficult to play that character while also being gracious to be on the show. Jerry and Martin have it a lot easier, as they can laugh whenever they want and still be in character. That, and they both have a few decades more experience. :D
