Like all grate music: all, I am left with is unchanged melody, we all grow old with memories, handicapped by the reality being a speck in the universe; a failure in retrospect, and what we gave, experienced, created, and loved, wonderful specks in the wind even pure gold,.... that is why the music brings up memories with longing's to explore more.

" And all your money won’t another minute buy " I love this quote / lyric. The first time I can honestly remember hearing this song was nearly a decade ago, while on vacation with my parents in Colorado. They had pulled off to look at new house going up in a development somewhere by Rifle, and I sat in the car waiting and this was the song that played. 14 year old me looked out on the reddish colored mountains as the sun went down behind them, not far from a cemetery that had been there since the late 1800s. This is the first time a song really stuck me on spiritual level, that memory was etched into my mind and hasn’t faded one bit. It’s almost haunting, but in a very peaceful way. It’s one of those moments that words were just not necessary and it was quiet and peaceful moment all to my self.

What a deep thought for a 14 year old!. Here is Omar Khayyam's version: "“The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ, Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”

This song makes me think. If we are just "dust in the wind" after we die, then what was our life all about? Why not live your life while you are above ground to be the best person you can be and when the time comes we die and become "dust" we can at least say we lived a good life in being a kind person, doing what's right and helping our fellow neighbors. I will have lived my life before I become "dust". I'm good with that.

What The Heart Of The Young Man Said To The Psalmist. Tell me not, in mournful numbers, Life is but an empty dream! For the soul is dead that slumbers, And things are not what they seem. Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal; Dust thou art, to dust returnest, Was not spoken of the soul. Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, Is our destined end or way; But to act, that each to-morrow Find us farther than to-day. Art is long, and Time is fleeting, And our hearts, though stout and brave, Still, like muffled drums, are beating Funeral marches to the grave. In the world’s broad field of battle, In the bivouac of Life, Be not like dumb, driven cattle! Be a hero in the strife! Trust no Future, howe’er pleasant! Let the dead Past bury its dead! Act,- act in the living Present! Heart within, and God o’erhead! Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time; Footprints, that perhaps another, Sailing o’er life’s solemn main, A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again. Let us, then, be up and doing, With a heart for any fate; Still achieving, still pursuing, Learn to labor and to wait. . A Psalm of Life BY HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW
