"It's pretty damn good for scavenging!" - Alan Niven (Ex- GNR Manager)
A home/ fan made Izzy Stradlin documentary.
This documentary will attempt to shed light on one of Rock and Roll's most mysterious sons by combining interviews, articles, and music. It loosely details his childhood, the co-creation of the world's most dangerous band, Guns N' Roses, and his prolific solo career.

Izzy was the reason I started working with GNR. We were friends from when he was in the band London. He has always been a very humble guy. Never cared about the rockstar stuff.

This is an excellent documentary - more insightful and well-researched than all the pro released docs. Brilliantly captures the authenticity and dedication that made GNR soar over their peers, too often neglected by other documentaries in favour of the more sensational headline-grabbing antics. Exceptional work 👏👏👏

4:52 Music and movies have lost a lot of their excitement and magic now because there’s unfettered access to the people behind it and every step of the process is exposed and known. Back then there was mystery and these figures, and what they made/did had such an aura of other-worldness. Also you weren’t saturated with constant updates on their lives and the process. You would hear an album/movie is coming out, maybe a month before it would and then BAM, there it was an event to get it or go see it. Then you would hear or see almost nothing about the artists until the next one or upcoming tour.

Great docu on the greatest band that ever walked this planet. My first time seeing them I was as an 18 yr old at the Donnington gig UK 88 R.I.P the two lad's that died, it was wild being in that mass surge when they came on. I then saw them twice at wembley stadium on the illusion tour 91and 92, an lucky enough to see them at Hyde Park London 2023 and they were just awesome. Cant beat the 80's/ early 90's tho!!Cant belive over 2000 views and only 73 likes!! Well I liked an sub'd. Long live GnR

Thanks for the comment, mate and I'm glad you enjoyed. Just for context regarding the surfing videos: Surfing was one of the things Izzy took up during his break from GN'R. It leads on from Alan Niven describing what he was getting up to. With the greatest of respects, nothing was random about this video ;) Thanks again, dude.

@@AyewisDocumentaries hey, sorry, random was a poor word choice on my part. I’m a surfer and guitarist myself, and I thought the surf clips were just so high performance, makes one think Izzy is some ripping pro ha. I think some dude riding a longboard in California would have been closer to the mark, but being a surfer myself I’m probably the only person who thought this. Regardless I really enjoyed the video. I’m a big fan of Izzy, he’s so cool and talented. Peace ✌️

Absolutely. Raw, raunchy, hip swinging and brutally honest rock n fuckin roll. It was what was needed exactly at the time. My first time seeing them was right before they released Appetite. No clue who they were. But after that performance they had become my favorite band. Their Live show was complete debauchery. Like the album, it was fucking loud, raw and in your face. Although Slash was having challenges standing up, he still killed it. And like all the General Admission concerts back in the day, me and my crew were front and center at the stage. Unforgettable.

Izzy is clearly a talented musician but GNR was the sum of it's parts, for a few brief years. They all made GNR such an awesome band. On it's own, his music was musically very good but it didn't have the same force as when he was teamed up with the rest of the band. After UYI toured, I remember feeling that it was all about to come apart. I knew nothing then like we know now. Relying on some magazines and MTV etc. Adler was gone, Izzy was gone, Izzy had a solo album, Duff had a solo album. It was like I didn't want them to be successful solo artists because it would mean the end of something else that was bigger than all of them. Sadly it came to pass and we can only be appreciative that this group of guys were together making music for 6 or 7 years and none of them are dead!! It's remarkable that the reunion band has been back together for so long and yet they haven't created any new music of note. Certainly gives weight to the belief that they can't write the music without Izzy and also Stephen. You also need to remember that their life circumstances, that was the fuel for their raw music, have vastly changed. You can't fake that energy and bad ass attitude. They are still a very good gig to go and see but it's very different to them in their heyday.

Iam this typical Fan who doesnt like the Last 30 Years..:D .......of the Bands History! Adler was a Crime, Stradlin was too much. (Adler was already too much) GNR were something Great at a time, They were the USA, for us Foreigners...they were Freedom and Real Rock N Roll. I cant stand what GNR is today. To me it is like the Haters hijacked GNR and turned it into something Else. I have little Hope they get this Baby back to its Greatness.....for me this would be a New Great Song ! and secondly a Better incooperation of Stradlin and Adler. Chinese Democracy SUCKS! It really Does. Make it an Axl Solo Album that wasnt very good and you got it right. Axl might think of himself he is some Kind of Genius but No you are not above ...even Adler none of you are! Adler IS your Nemesis! Adler is the innocent Baby you threw into the Trash Bin! Try it......Try it as your new Philosophy and you might eventually have the chance to get Back to your old Glory before you wander off this Planet!

I agree GnR the band died some time after Lies was recorded. They were still a band then. Somewhere around the success of Patience, publically, they stopped being the band we'd always wanted. They became Axl's day job. Still are. The first JuJu Hounds record said all I needed to hear, about where the good influences on those iconic songs, was.

Izzy was great. He was not going to commit to major tours and being in the biggest band at the time. He still wouldn’t commit even though it’s a professional band and yes Axl included. Adler was great on AFD but he isn’t the answer to what you want. You want AFD part II. It’s not happening. It would be fraudulent and silly for very wealthy musicians who are 59-63 years old to write songs about being broke or drug addiction etc.. Chinese doesn’t suck. A lot of it is really good.
