I’m so amazed by the size of the machines. When I drove truck for my Uncle in the early 60s, the truck held 200 bushels. The little Ford pull type combine hopper held 20 bushels. It took a good part of the day to fill the truck. Now they harvest 400 bushels in about 15 minutes.

Sure would trade some of our snow and rain for some their dry dusty doesn't seem to be a happy medium any where ! Having to run all that wheat straw through really adds a lot of material to get in that machine dry weather would be good for that ! Hard around here to just get the bean straw dry ! Thanks for the video!

Very good explanation of the reason behind the reel speed. I agree 100% on reasoning! Most guys have their reels rotating way to fast and shatter a good deal of the pods before the cutter bar even reaches the plant.

@@buckhorncortez Never had a Gleaner, always ran Deere's. In fact I'm from the same area The farm featured in this video. The Gleaner pushes way less dust out of the feeder house because of the vacuum created by their rotor. Ask anyone who has operated one.
@iamatt568

Deere has a feed accelerator in front of the rotor which causes back draft. I believe case and gleaner don’t have this. Which causes less dust out of the front.

It has to actually be bought and stuck out in a field before he can film one. Even at the most optimistic, this brand having no previous history, a first generation dealer network, no previous product reliability & maintenance part availability to go by, etc. It 'can' succeed - after all, Caterpillar really had to commit long term in spite of low sales before the Challenger tractors caught on as proven commodities, so it can be done(though, the Caterpillar brand still carried more cache to farmers than the brand new 'TriBine' does, but still...). It's just going to take an exceptional group of people with an exceptional product(it better match the technology of the major players AND their reliability and basic part availability, 1st generation product or not - farmers aren't risking their crop to be beta testers), smart decision making, and some luck for it to happen. Either way though, it's likely going to be a while before we really get to see these around.

@@iamatt568 so what you are saying is that they spray glyphosate on the GMO plants, then they feed this to the animals and we eat the animals, no wonder everyone is so sick!
@iamatt568

We do not over apply glyphosate. It’s very expensive. We don’t want to spray, we have to. Also it’s sprayed before the beans are even developed.

The reason we aren’t is because we run a “bean screen” as the sieve. Automation does not work when one of the components needed for adjustment is missing. I’m sure there is a fancy code to put into the diagnostic addresses to make it function but we just run them manually. Not a big deal.
