get rid of the C story and have a better more action packed ending it could have been great. Just expand the Blofeld crater part and have Blofeld come back in the next one with the scar. Also pump up the color scheme and have the movie flow a little faster. And have Bautista survive the train sequence where Bond is defeated and taken to the crater by Bautista and have Bond fight him again in Blofelds compound.

Very rewatchable. I think it's a good Bond film. Blofeld has been poorly played throughout the entire Bond history. Spectre is a fun opponent to Bond, but an amazing Blofeld would have taken the rivalry to a more exciting level, in my opinion, like Lex Luthor and Superman.

Blofeld was a MAJOR letdown for me. This whole "Darth Vader" scenario (he's your father/brother/former roommate) just gets old. They did this with G.I. Joe with Duke and Cobra Commander too (and Baroness). Just a really bad move. Can we, for once, have a bad guy be a bad guy without bringing in "family matters". Blofeld it to be Bond's nemesis...not sibling. It just turned me completely off to the film.

Yes! Totally agree. I’m also sick of all the armchair pop psychology that focuses so much on childhood trauma being a main motivator with these type of movies. It’s just so old anymore. I hope we NEVER get a childhood flashback scene in a future Bond.

@@FredK2929 I actually interpreted this "author of all your pain" line a little less literally. All the major deaths in Bond's life from the previous films were indirectly caused by Spectre's involvement, and of course being the insecure little bastard that he is, Blofeld brags about it to his foster brother. I like to imagine that Blofeld didn't care about Bond for the time being, focusing on building Spectre with Mr White fueled by his rage and childhood trauma. And only after White's multiple failures he found out that it was his brother ruining his life again

I would like to point out that Blofeld never says that he wants to kill Bond because of daddy issues, nor does he imply that he creates Spectre to target Bond. Blofeld kills his father because he has to be front and center, he refuses to play second fiddle. This sends him down the path of becoming the head of Spectre (where he clearly still needs to be number one) but happens to find Bond interfering in his organization's work. Blofeld says "A nice pattern developed, you interfered in my world so I destroyed yours" This line sums it all up. Bond was just an outside nuisance, not even on Blofeld's radar until the events of Casino Royale. Just felt the need to clarify considering people seem to always imply that Blofeld created Spectre just because he wants revenge for stealing his fathers affection. I'd also like to point out that Blofeld never tries to kill Bond alongside his father. Just saying.
@nethaendafendr
@nethaendafendr 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah… It’s FAR more logical than the movie… but where it still falls kinda flat for me is that it’s never directly explained and leaving us the assumption that Blofeld formed this organization because of jealousy. A simple line or two is all we would have needed to clear any confusion, like explaining that his dad teaching Bond was the perfect distraction for him to form his plan, and not making him jealous. Or, more simply, make direct references to events that Bond interfered the organization with, ex. Quantum. (Skyfall should not have been tied with Spectre tho, that too!) Or, most of all, that Blofeld never cared about him until this point. While I do like your take, I just want to point out what the movie could’ve done with that. Sorry my comment’s so long, just wanted to say what I wanted to say.

Doesn't dilute the retarded decision to make them known to eachother before they re-encounter eachother. It was a piss poor decision and adds nothing. It detracts from it. They should be separate entities with opposing goals that become intertwined because Bond keeps screwing up Spectre's plans. As a result, Blofeld develops a vendetta against him whilst also gaining a grudging respect for him. It's this aspect which, when they finally meet face to face, lends more drama and tension to their interactions. Mental and verbal chess. And why would Bond fall for Madeline? She's so cold and blank to the point of boring. Vesper challenged him, goaded him, saw through him. That excited Bond. He found an 'adversary' truly worthy of him. And when he protects her and she helps him in the staircase fight, later having an emotional breakdown because she's been 'party' to a brutal killing (though justified) Bond recognises the trauma and comforts her. Both of their guards are let down and are truly with eachother. That makes sense. Bond suddenly falling for an ice queen without any chemistry.....just feels false and crowbarred in. Sam Mendes should stick to drama, not action thrillers. And the script was just not fit for purpose, like they'd never seen the previous films. Disappointing is an understatement.

Oh you mean that series that started of decent that slowly devolved into pretentious bullshit with shitty animation that has an infuriating plot where character development will be dropped so they can have more forced dialogue about how fucked up they are as human beings? The same anime that had an ending that pissed off people to the extent where Anno had to pinch out that turd EoE to quell the retarded fanboys where the movie boiled down to "rocks fall everyone dies except not really because it's heavily implied that the Rebuild timeline is the reality Shinji created after EoE"? Here's how I'd have rewritten Spectre: After QOS, using the information that Bond gets out of Greene, Quantum is dismantled by MI6 with most of its leadership being arrested or killed. However, Blofeld, being one of the Quantum agents who escaped along with Mr. White, rebuilds the organization into Spectre during the 6 year gap between QOS and Spectre. That would've made SO much more sense than the dumb, low-effort nonsense they went with. It would've even made the name "Spectre" make sense.

I personally felt this about a lot of the set pieces... the car chase, the plane chase, this train fight, Blofeld's character. It feels like there was a good movie with some really serious and tense moments, but my enjoyment kept getting interrupted by really silly or unrealistic things happening, or stunts that look cheap. People give Spectre a hard time, but I actually enjoyed this film. They finally put the gunbarrel at the beginning and the pre-title sequence was great. Dave Bautista was a great henchman. I thought Christoph Waltz was good as Blofeld. The only criticism I have is the same as everybody else. Making Blofeld a relative of Bond was a horrible decision. I also thought that the title song was horrific. Otherwise, no complaints. It was nice to see Craig finally get a film that was a classic style Bond film

I'm surprised you didnt mention anything about the way he walks during the gunbarrel sequence. Swinging that gun in the background carelessly. The point of him hiding his right arm during it is to hide it from the guy that's trying to shoot him. Watch Vladimir Putin when he walks. Every now and again you'll see him walk with his right hand resting at his side. That so he could quickly grab his gun at a moment's notice, that's his KGB training kicking in. While I like the theme, his pacing is good, the final pose is Craig's best so far. That swinging of the gun carelessly really pisses me off. No well trained spy would ever do that

I like Spectre. The best scenes I can (and have) re-watched over and over again. The "climactic" ending is a total snooze, though, and I have the same issues with other plot points as most Bond fans. Despite that, I found the movie kept my interest from start to finish, which is rare.

Spectre was a lot similar to Mission Impossible Rogue Nation. The premise is similar with M:I 5 having a similar issue surrounding the Impossible Mission Force (IMF). Both movies have scenes set in Austria and Morocco and a climax in London. Even Bond's MI6 allies start to resemble the main cast of the M:I Rogue Nation with Bond being Ethan Hunt, M being Alan Hunley and with elements of William Brandt, Q being Benji Dunn with elements Luther Stickell, Moneypenny being Ilsa Faust with Luther Stickell's ethnicity, Madeleine being Ilsa Faust with elements of Julia Meade-Hunt, and Tanner being William Brandt. The villains too are similar with Blofeld being Solomon Lane, Max Denbigh being MI6 Chief Atlee, Mr Hinx being the Bone Doctor, and the entire SPECTRE organization being one for the Syndicate. Both actually feature the villain behind bulletproof glass. Even the main villains are arrested as opposed to killed. My opinion on the Stepbrother thing is that it atleast adds depth to Blofeld, or else he would have been a run-of-the-mill villain like Kingsman 2's Poppy Adams. It also prevents him from feeling like a rehash of M:I 5's Solomon Lane, considering the huge amount of similarities between the two. I like the car chase scene in Rome as it didn't use poorly-handled shaky cam like Quantum of Solace, making it easier to tell what is going on. Writing on the Wall is an OK song since it is difficult to top Chris Cornell's You Know My Name. Despite Sam Smith's whiny voice, atleast it wasn't autotuned.

This was the third Bond I saw in theatres, I was in grade 12, and I was very excited to see this, because I actually went to see it in the midnight premiere. I was literally the first person in line to enter the cinema, and I’ve always wanted to see a midnight premiere of James Bond I was also very excited, because I was so happy to see the return of the octopus and of Spectre. I was so happy to see the old nemesis back on screen and a new take. Also Sir Sam Mendez did a great job coming back. I’m happy he did. He did a good job in this film as well. Also, Mr. Hinks has to be one of the best modern villains ever. He is a tank like he was amazing, especially in the fight scene with bonds in the train and in the car chase earlier.

I will forever be baffled that Radiohead's Spectre song was not used for this film's title sequence. The sequence just feels like it was made with Radiohead's song in mind; it is just awkward with Writings on the Wall being played over it.

The first half of this movie is absolutely thrilling and exciting. I genuinenly enjoyed every frame, every dialogue exchange, and every choice the producers and actors opted for. The second half, or simply, when Bond rescues Madeline back in Austria is when everything goes down the tubes for me, and I mean literally everything. Two words: weird and out of place.

45:48 - A pistol round cannot even travel that far before it peters out and falls to the ground. I personally saw the end as James getting Madeline out of the country for her safety. Also, James did not try to use the attackers on the slope chase as a lead as he had no idea where they were going to stop and his job is to protect Madeline. Plus, Madeline was connected to Spectre in some way, so she was his main lead. Good review, man.
